Urgently evacuate hundreds of households along Ca Ty river to safety

On the evening of October 30, due to the rapid rise in the water level of the Ca Ty River, the authorities of Phan Thiet and Binh Thuan wards (Lam Dong) urgently evacuated hundreds of households living along the river to safety.

Rising water levels in the Ca Ty River pose a risk of flooding in residential areas along the river.

According to the Lam Dong Province Hydrometeorological Station, the water level on the Ca Ty River is rising rapidly due to the release of water from upstream reservoirs. At 9 p.m. on October 30, the water level at Phan Thiet station reached alert level 1 and is expected to continue rising in the next 6-12 hours.

Rising water levels pose a risk of flooding low-lying areas, riverside residential areas and areas outside the dike in riverside communes and wards such as Phan Thiet, Ham Thuan Nam, Ham Thuan Bac and Binh Thuan .

Police force moved the elderly to safety

Faced with that situation, from 8:30 p.m. on October 30, the People's Committee of Binh Thuan Ward organized the evacuation of households in areas at risk of deep flooding in wards 5, 6, Phu Nhang, Phu Dien, Dai Loc, Xuan Dien, Dai Thien 1, Dai Thien 2 to safe places.

The ward police force was mobilized to coordinate with the neighborhoods to evacuate and protect people's property, organize traffic flow, guide traffic and control flooded roads.

The Ward Military Command also arranged rescue support forces, provided life jackets and necessary items, and coordinated to review and update the list of key residential areas that needed to be evacuated.

By about 11:45 p.m., the work of evacuating people to safety was basically completed.

In Phan Thiet ward, that same night, local authorities, police and military forces, Brigade 681 and Infantry Regiment 812 mobilized vehicles and human resources to support people living along the river to move to a safe area.

By about 11:45 p.m. the same day, the evacuation of people in wards along the Ca Ty River was basically completed.

Currently, functional forces and local authorities continue to be on duty 24/7, monitoring river water level developments to proactively respond and ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
