Rice prices today slightly decreased, slow transactions at the end of the season
The price of rice today, October 31, in the domestic market recorded a decrease of about 50 VND/kg for raw rice, while the price of finished rice remained stable. In the Mekong Delta region, the trading market was quiet because the supply of old rice crop was almost exhausted, traders bought sparingly, and many warehouses temporarily stopped purchasing.
Rice price developments in the Mekong Delta
In An Giang , the price of OM 5451 raw rice for export decreased to about 7,950 - 8,100 VND/kg. The prices of CL 555, Soc Det and IR 504 raw rice remained stable at 7,600 - 8,000 VND/kg. In particular, OM 18 rice remained at a high level of 8,500 - 8,600 VND/kg. The price of finished rice products remained at 8,800 - 9,700 VND/kg depending on the type.
By-product prices also remained stable, IR 504 broken rice was at 7,400 - 7,500 VND/kg, and bran fluctuated at 9,000 - 10,000 VND/kg. Some large warehouses in Lap Vo and Sa Dec ( Dong Thap ) bought very little, mainly choosing high-quality rice, while market rice was selling slowly.
The price of fresh rice at the end of the season remains stable.
Regarding rice, the price of OM 5451 (fresh) rice is still around 5,300 - 5,500 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice is at 5,600 - 5,800 VND/kg; OM 18 rice is from 5,500 - 5,700 VND/kg. High-quality rice varieties such as Nang Hoa 9 continue to maintain the price of 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg.
In many localities such as An Giang, Can Tho , Dong Thap and Vinh Long, the amount of rice left in the fields is not much, traders buy sporadically at stable prices. In Tay Ninh, the market has almost stagnated, rice prices remain around the old level.
Stable retail rice prices at traditional markets
Retail rice prices in the Western region markets remained unchanged from yesterday. Nang Nhen rice remained at the highest level of VND28,000/kg, followed by Huong Lai at VND22,000/kg, while Thai fragrant rice and Jasmine rice fluctuated at VND16,000 - VND22,000/kg. Popular white rice and Soc Thai rice remained at VND16,000 - VND20,000/kg.
Rice exports are stable, international transactions are quiet
In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices fluctuated little. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 5% broken fragrant rice fluctuated at 415-430 USD/ton, 100% broken rice at 314-317 USD/ton, and Jasmine rice at 478-482 USD/ton. Exporters are currently waiting for signals from new orders in November, after import demand from some Asian countries slowed down.
