Rice prices today, October 28, slightly decreased by 100 VND/kg for some rice varieties. The trading market is quiet due to low end-of-season supply and weak purchasing power.

Rice prices today, October 28, in the Mekong Delta region recorded a slight decrease, fluctuating around 100 VND/kg for some types of rice. The market was generally quiet as many localities entered the final stage of the crop, the supply of fresh rice decreased and traders limited their purchases.

According to the update from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang, OM 18 rice (fresh) is currently fluctuating at 5,500 - 5,700 VND/kg, IR 50404 rice is at 4,800 - 5,000 VND/kg, OM 5451 rice is from 5,300 - 5,500 VND/kg. Dai Thom 8 rice remains at around 5,600 - 5,800 VND/kg, while Nang Hoa 9 rice remains at 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg. OM 308 rice in particular fluctuates at 5,700 - 5,900 VND/kg.

Retail rice prices remained stable, consumers preferred fragrant rice. Nang Nhen rice continued to hold the highest position at 28,000 VND/kg. Huong Lai rice was listed at 22,000 VND/kg, long grain Thai fragrant rice was from 20,000 - 22,000 VND/kg. Popular rice varieties such as Nang Hoa, Taiwan, Jasmine, Soc and Nhat remained at around 16,000 - 22,000 VND/kg.

In An Giang , Dong Thap and neighboring provinces, warehouses selectively purchased rice, the amount of rice arriving at the port decreased, and slow transactions caused prices to remain stable.

Raw rice prices slightly decreased, by-products remained stable

Raw rice prices today tend to decrease slightly. OM 5451 rice increased by 50 VND/kg, fluctuating between 7,950 - 8,150 VND/kg, while Soc Dep rice decreased by 100 VND/kg to 7,700 - 7,800 VND/kg. IR 504 rice is at 7,700 - 8,000 VND/kg, OM 18 rice is from 8,500 - 8,600 VND/kg, and OM 380 is around 7,800 - 7,900 VND/kg. CL 555 rice remains at 8,150 - 8,250 VND/kg, while OM 380 finished rice is at 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg, IR 504 rice is around 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg.

Rice by-products remained stable, fluctuating between 7,250 and 10,000 VND/kg. IR 405 broken rice increased slightly by 50 VND/kg, reaching 7,400 - 7,500 VND/kg, while bran prices remained in the range of 9,000 - 10,000 VND/kg.

Vietnam's rice exports are stable, Thailand's prices have dropped to a record low.

In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices remain unchanged. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 5% broken fragrant rice is offered at 420 - 435 USD/ton, 100% broken rice is around 309 - 313 USD/ton, and Jasmine rice fluctuates at 479 - 483 USD/ton.

Meanwhile, in Thailand, rice prices fell for a sixth consecutive week, hitting an 18-year low due to weak demand and excess supply. In contrast, Indian rice edged back after hitting a nine-year low, fluctuating between $344 and $370 per ton depending on the variety.

Vietnam continues to maintain stable prices, but export transactions have slowed down as domestic enterprises have slowed down purchasing, causing domestic fresh rice prices to remain unchanged.
