Timely response

The city's Department of Industry and Trade said that the supply of goods, food, and provisions to communes and wards that were deeply flooded, isolated, and had traffic disrupted due to landslides and power outages has been and is being urgently deployed. Through a survey, the demand for food, foodstuffs, and other necessities in flooded and isolated communes and wards across the city for this support period includes 26,340 boxes of instant noodles, 21,190 boxes of drinking water; 13,220 boxes of dry food, and 219 tons of rice.

The tools and supplies provided in this batch to support response and damage recovery include: 2,085 pairs of rain boots; 22,185 flashlights; 5,265 raincoats; 805 tarpaulins; 5,460 life jackets; 10,910 liters of engine oil (for road clearing), in addition to candles, aluminum boats, and relief canoes. The medicines and medical supplies provided to the people include fever reducers, stomach ache medicines, and wound disinfectants.

Particularly in mountainous communes, where traffic is very difficult due to landslides and flooded bridges, the People's Committee of the commune has proactively directed businesses, business households, and grocery stores in the area to participate in coordinating the supply of goods and essential necessities to provide timely supplies to the people. However, due to the impact of floods and landslides, access to deliver goods to households in this area is difficult.

Officers and soldiers of Division 315 and local authorities promptly provided necessities to people in flooded areas.

Proactive source of goods

In recent days, major food and foodstuff distribution units in the city such as Co.opmart Da Nang Supermarket Trading and Service Company Limited, Co.opmart Son Tra Supermarket, MM Mega Market Da Nang, Lotte Mart Supermarket, Winmart+ supermarket chain, EB Hai Phong Joint Stock Company Branch (Go!) Supermarket in Da Nang and major commercial centers Ba Vuong Construction, Service and Trading Company Limited, Thai Dong Hung Company Limited... have participated in supplying goods to serve the people.

The total amount of food and foodstuffs stored at shopping centers, supermarkets, markets, and distribution businesses in the city to date includes: 892 tons of rice, sticky rice of all kinds, nearly 70,000 boxes of instant noodles, 898 boxes of dry food, 15,006 boxes of bottled water, 5,000 boxes of canned meat, canned fish, and 700 tons of other food and foodstuffs.

The Department of Industry and Trade said that with the amount of goods reserved from distribution systems and the city's early preparation, it ensures supply to meet the needs of people in flooded and isolated areas.

Previously, based on the proposals of communes and wards in the city regarding the need for food and relief supplies for people in flood-affected and isolated areas, the Department of Industry and Trade sent a document requesting the City People's Committee to consider and allocate funds for purchasing; send a summary list to the City Civil Defense Command for implementation, ensuring timely delivery to deeply flooded and isolated areas.

“Every day, goods still circulate enough to serve people's needs. In areas that are deeply flooded, people use boats and motorboats to go shopping. With the support of functional sectors, the supply of goods is still guaranteed and not interrupted,” said Ms. Do Thi Quynh Tram, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade.

Green vegetables increase in price

Widespread flooding has caused the supply of vegetables and fruits from large gardens and vegetable villages to the entire city to stagnate. The circulation of goods has encountered difficulties because many traffic routes have been cut off due to landslides. Deep flooded bridges have also made the supply of goods to markets and businesses more scarce than usual.

Some items have increased in price compared to before the flood, especially green vegetables increased by about 5 - 15 thousand VND/bunch; seafood imported to the market has decreased in output, prices increased by about 15 - 20 thousand VND/type.

Ms. Le Thi Hong, owner of a vegetable and onion stall at Dong Da market, said that the main source of vegetables is imported from Hoa Cuong wholesale market and from businesses in communes and wards, but in the past few days, there have been few goods, and sometimes there are no vegetables to sell. Prices have increased compared to normal days, but they are still sold out because purchasing power remains quite stable and people basically accept it.

The supply of pork and beef (mainly supplied from Da Son slaughterhouse) has decreased in output but prices remain stable, specifically: pork butt and shoulder cost 100,000 VND/kg, pork belly costs 130,000 VND/kg, baby back ribs cost 150,000 VND/kg...

Ms. Nguyen Thi Bay, owner of a pork stall at Dong Da market, affirmed that although purchasing power has decreased, she still ensures that every day at her stall there are about 50kg of various types of pork for sale to serve people's needs at stable prices.

At Hoa Cuong wholesale market, there are still 70-80 large and small trucks of all kinds transporting goods to markets and purchasing points throughout the city every day. Currently, the price of local vegetables at Hoa Cuong wholesale market is increasing due to the decrease in supply to the market in recent days.
