Urgently overcome damage caused by heavy rain and storms in Dong Hoa ward

The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee directed to urgently overcome the consequences of damage caused by heavy rain and storms in Dong Hoa ward and some areas of the city.

On the afternoon of October 7, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Minh Thanh signed and issued a document conveying the direction of Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc on overcoming the consequences of damage caused by heavy rain and storms in Dong Hoa ward and some areas of the city.

According to reports, the recent heavy rain and storms have caused property damage and affected people's lives. To quickly overcome the consequences, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requested departments, branches and localities to urgently deploy response measures and support people to stabilize their lives.

The People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City assigned the People's Committee of Dong Hoa Ward to proactively use the reserve budget and coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the Ward to support affected households and victims. At the same time, the locality needs to review, inspect, and guide people to brace, repair, and reinforce their houses to ensure safety during the rainy and stormy season.

The Department of Construction of Ho Chi Minh City is researching and advising the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City on decentralization and assigning the right to manage urban technical infrastructure including trees, lighting systems, drainage, parks, sidewalks, etc. to localities. This is to help local authorities proactively respond and promptly handle similar incidents in the future.

The Ho Chi Minh City Green Parks Company Limited and the People's Committees of wards, communes and special zones are required to review the entire system of trees along roadsides, parks and residential areas, and promptly handle trees at risk of falling to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.

In addition, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation must inspect and reinforce transformer stations, power lines, and electrical equipment, while preparing human resources, materials, and backup equipment to promptly handle incidents, ensuring safe, stable, and continuous power supply in all situations.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee emphasized that relevant units need to mobilize maximum forces and means, coordinate closely to promptly overcome the consequences, not let people lack essential needs, and soon stabilize their lives after natural disasters.
