Urgently inspect and handle acts of storing and trading counterfeit Crocs brand goods in Hoi An City

According to the reflection of Rouse Vietnam Law Company Limited (the authorized representative of industrial property rights of Crocs, Inc.,), recently some stalls operating in the night market area of Hoi An City have shown signs of trading in counterfeit goods of the "Crocs" trademark, which is protected in Vietnam.

Therefore, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province assigned the Provincial Market Management Department (Standing Agency of the Steering Committee 389 of Quang Nam province) to preside over and coordinate with the Provincial Police, Department of Science and Technology, Hoi An City People's Committee and relevant functional agencies to organize inspections of stalls selling goods with signs of counterfeiting the "Crocs" trademark according to the information requested by Rouse Vietnam Law Company Limited.

Timely detect and strictly handle violations according to legal regulations. Report the results of inspection and handling of administrative violations to the Provincial People's Committee and Steering Committee 389 of Quang Nam province before July 10, 2024.

Hoi An City People's Committee is responsible for proactively coordinating with functional agencies and units to develop plans to strengthen inspection and closely monitor business activities of business establishments at the night market, promptly detect and strictly handle acts of trading, storing prohibited goods, smuggled goods, trading in counterfeit goods, goods infringing intellectual property rights, etc.

Carry out propaganda work well, instructing organizations and individuals doing business in the area in general and at the night market in particular to comply with relevant legal regulations in production and business activities, and to practice civilized commerce.

Previously, on May 15, 2024, Rouse Vietnam Law Firm sent an official dispatch to the Steering Committee 389 of Quang Nam province requesting to handle the act of trading in counterfeit goods and goods counterfeiting the Crocs brand.

The content of the document stated that during the market survey in Hoi An City, Crocs discovered that stalls at Hoi An night market on Nguyen Hoang Street were selling many footwear products with Crocs brands of unknown origin. On December 6, 2023, the company sent a document to the Market Management Department of Quang Nam Province requesting to handle the act of trading in counterfeit Crocs branded goods of 4 stalls on Nguyen Hoang Street (Hoi An City).

On January 29, 2024, Rouse Vietnam Law Firm received a reply from the Market Management Department of Quang Nam province informing that no goods with signs of counterfeiting Crocs brands were detected at the above mentioned stalls.

However, recently, Rouse Vietnam Law Firm continued to discover 6 stalls on Nguyen Hoang and Ngo Quyen streets (Hoi An City) selling Crocs branded footwear products of unknown origin.

This not only causes damage to consumers but also seriously affects the reputation and prestige of Crocs in the Vietnamese market. Therefore, it is recommended that relevant agencies of Quang Nam province urgently review, conduct investigations and take measures to handle acts of storing and trading counterfeit goods of the Crocs brand at these stalls.
