The desire to create and learn continuously of a 9x Viettel guy

Difficulty is the motivation to step out of the comfort zone and break through.

As an enterprise assigned by Minister Nguyen Manh Hung with the responsibility of "finding difficult and big problems and solving them with global strength, through cooperation with developed countries", Viettel is an enterprise that always faces great challenges.

With the mission of "Pioneering and leading the way in creating a digital society", Viettel regularly solves problems from building e-government, developing smart cities, solving traffic and urban problems, especially in times of urgent difficulty... It was this high-pressure environment that pushed Hoang Khac Hieu to step out of his comfort zone from the very beginning.

“After just one week of working on the project, I was able to participate in the first business trip to survey customer needs and provide professional training for a group of nearly 40 employees,” Hieu said about joining Viettel Solutions in 2019, after graduating from Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

Just two years later, Hieu began to preside over important projects, the “Green Stream” project during Covid-19 was one of them. Despite the dangerous pandemic, the young engineer was aware of Viettel’s responsibility, in addition to business calculations, the team also had missionary tasks.

In just two weeks, Hieu and his teammates at Viettel Solutions had to replace the old system with a new one to ensure smooth traffic. In the context of the whole country practicing social distancing due to the pandemic, Hoang Khac Hieu said: "I cannot sit still when the country needs me, I just want to contribute my strength to the country in difficult times." That is also the reason why Hieu tries his best with the goal of "applying technology to solve practical problems as quickly as possible."

Growing up from difficult tasks, just like Viettel's philosophy - "throw yourself into a dead end and you will live", Hoang Khac Hieu still maintains the spirit of not being afraid of challenges when taking on new responsibilities.

He and the Viettel engineering team have successfully completed the Smart Traffic Monitoring Project in the Smart city ecosystem, deployed for more than 30 projects across Vietnam.

In particular, Hieu's Vietnamese technology solutions have conquered the international market through the ITS system (intelligent traffic monitoring), TrafficID - integrating AI right on the camera and 5G technology. Hieu proudly shared that it is the big projects that have changed his thinking and opened up many opportunities for himself as well as added confidence in the power of Make in Vietnam products that can help customers in countries with developed economies solve difficult problems.

Hieu always considers each product as a brainchild to take care of and meet customer needs. He must always strive to find ways to develop, open up new spaces, and the next direction for his products to become an even better version.

Continuous learning

Hoang Khac Hieu is also an inspiring example for the younger generation who want to pursue science and technology and contribute to the country. Hieu himself is always constantly learning and creating. For Hieu, creativity is the key to survival and breakthrough - true to the philosophy "Creativity is vitality" that Viettel Solutions always encourages.

The Government Solutions Center - Viettel Solutions, where Hieu is entrusted with the responsibility of Head of Development Department, is also constantly changing to meet new development goals. In the coming time, the Center will continue to research and deploy new solutions to stay ahead of trends such as highway management, smart traffic management for urban areas, or solutions for new infrastructure projects such as metro and high-speed railway.

“The Center’s Board of Directors and our colleagues also determined that new markets will have challenges. However, this will be an opportunity for us to develop further, in addition to the old markets that have been successfully exploited. Continuous growth requires us to always find new opportunities to expand development space and stay ahead of trends,” Hoang Khac Hieu emphasized.

“As a young, ambitious generation, build passion and a desire to constantly learn, because the information technology industry changes very quickly and it is easy to be left behind. Besides, you need to always cultivate creativity and problem-solving skills, face failure, always keep an open mind and be ready to work in a team, and be ready to accept new things from everyone around you” - Head of Department 9x confided.

At Viettel Solutions, Hoang Khac Hieu is highly appreciated by the Board of Directors. He has been awarded the title of Emulation Fighter at Viettel Solutions for 4 consecutive years since 2021, and achieved the title of "Emulation Fighter of the Whole Army" in 2024. He is also one of the young people nominated for the title of Outstanding Young Face of Vietnam in 2024.
