Mrs. Nguyen Thi Dung’s family has gone through more than 30 years of hardship, since the days when they left their hometown in Ha Tay (old) to go to Tan Quan to work for a living. The series of misfortunes continued when her husband died early, leaving her alone to raise 3 sons in debt and poverty.
The pain had not yet subsided when the eldest son Nguyen Tat Hung's marriage broke down, bringing his twin daughters to live with his grandmother. Among them, his granddaughter Quynh Nhu, after a congenital heart surgery, now has a dangerous femur tumor. In 2020, Mr. Hung was diagnosed with severe diabetes and has now lost the ability to work. The house is precarious at the end of the village, Mrs. Dung is gradually weakening because of the worries and struggles to hold on to life for her children and grandchildren.
