Many people were suddenly rewarded for overcoming danger to save people in the flood.

On the morning of November 28, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thang, Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Kien Ward, Dak Lak Province, said that the government had just organized a surprise reward for 11 individuals for their brave actions in saving people during the recent flood.

According to Mr. Thang, in addition to the 11 people who were unexpectedly commended by the commune, the Commune People's Committee also proposed the Provincial People's Committee to commend 1 individual for his brave actions as above.

Mr. Thang added that from November 19 to 23, continuous heavy rains in Binh Kien ward caused widespread flooding with 12 out of 23 residential areas being flooded. Responding to the call of the Party Committee and the People's Committee of the commune, Mr. Nguyen Minh Han, Party Cell Secretary and Head of Long Thuy Residential Area, mobilized 12 people, 1 small boat and 4 basket boats to participate in the rescue.

From rudimentary boats, 12 people in the team, regardless of danger, waded in floodwaters for 2 days to evacuate and rescue about 300 people trapped in the raging flood.

Binh Kien Ward People's Committee organized sudden rewards for individuals.

According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Kien Ward, the small boats are equipped with engines but are very effective, sneaking into every corner that large boats cannot enter to rescue people. After bringing all the people to safety, during the flood days, the rescue team continued to supply necessities, not letting people go hungry. "The People's Committee of the Ward acknowledges and appreciates the brave actions of the rescue team. Without them, we would not dare to think about the number of deaths," Mr. Thang shared.

To recognize the above brave actions, the People's Committee of Binh Kien Ward organized a surprise award for 11 individuals with outstanding achievements in rescue work. Mr. Tran Van Luan, considered the commander of the rescue team, was proposed by the People's Committee of the Ward to be awarded a certificate of merit by the People's Committee of Dak Lak Province. "The People's Committee of the Ward will establish a rescue shock team with the core force of the 12 brave individuals above. At the same time, call on young volunteers to join the team," Mr. Thang added.
