When history comes alive and touches the emotions of young people

NDO - The special interactive exhibition celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper not only attracted a large audience with its rich display content but also left a strong impression thanks to its new and attractive way of telling historical stories, applying many modern technologies.

Technology - the bridge between history and the younger generation

In the heroic atmosphere of the last days of April, the interactive exhibition on National Reunification Day held at the headquarters of Nhan Dan Newspaper, 71 Hang Trong, Hanoi has become a cultural-historical meeting place attracting a large audience, especially young people. Not only did they line up to visit, many young people also shared their excitement at being able to “touch” history with modern interactive technologies.

After nearly a week of operation, the attraction of the exhibition has not shown any signs of waning. From early Monday morning (April 28), despite the unexpected heavy rain, hundreds of visitors, most of whom were students, still patiently lined up to wait for their turn to visit the exhibition.

Students of Giang Vo Secondary School (Ba Dinh District, Hanoi) visit the exhibition at Nhan Dan Newspaper on the morning of April 28.

For many young people, this exhibition is not simply a commemorative event, but also a journey to experience history with all the senses, thanks to the combination of precious documents and advanced technology such as 3D mapping, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR).

“I was really surprised when I entered the exhibition space,” said Nguyen Tuan Minh, a fourth-year student at the National Economics University. “The photos, documents, videos and 3D models not only showed me history, but also made me feel the beat and breath of each moment.”

Unlike many traditional exhibitions that have a solemn and quiet atmosphere, here, young audiences can experience a vivid historical space with modern technology integrated through QR codes attached to each display area. With a smartphone or VR glasses, with just a simple scan of the code, viewers can "enter" fierce battles, "meet" historical figures and "relive" unforgettable moments of the nation.

Tran Minh Quang (28 years old, media staff) said: “I have had the opportunity to visit a number of museums at home and abroad, but the way this exhibition uses AR and VR to recreate history is really impressive. Everything is very intuitive and vivid. It makes history closer and easier to understand for young people.”

The exhibition space is designed as a historical flow, taking viewers back in time to the sacred moment when the South was completely liberated exactly 50 years ago. Instead of just static displays, each area has a QR code guide, allowing visitors to access extended content such as documentaries, 3D models...

A special feature that makes the exhibition “popular” with young audiences is the way interactive technology is applied. In particular, 3D mapping technology is applied to recreate the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign... With vivid images, realistic sounds and multi-dimensional lighting effects, historical stories come to life right before the eyes of the viewer.

“The 3D mapping images of the military campaign made me feel like I was witnessing it with my own eyes,” Nguyen Thao Vy (21 years old, student at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) excitedly said. “It is no longer just dry numbers and events, but becomes real stories that touch emotions.”

Not only is the exhibition strong in technology, it also leaves an impression with its in-depth and creative content organization. The topics are divided into many coherent “chapters”. Each space is designed just enough to evoke emotions, so that viewers are not “overwhelmed” but still fully follow the historical story.

Nguyen Hoang Nam (23 years old, student at Hanoi University of Science and Technology) commented: “What I like about this exhibition is the very reasonable way of leading. From beginning to end, I felt like I was watching a historical movie, each step was an emotional segment.”

Students are excited to experience extracurricular activities in a vibrant historical space.

The exhibition atmosphere is also flexibly adjusted to suit each historical period being recreated. The models and 3D animations at the exhibition help visitors transform into liberation soldiers. All of these contribute to making viewers truly “live in the story” rather than just stand outside and observe.

Special supplement - a gift to preserve history

Another highlight that cannot be ignored is the special supplement published by Nhan Dan Newspaper on this occasion. Not only synthesizing selected documents and historical milestones, the supplement also integrates many QR codes that directly link to digital content, images, documentaries, etc. Thanks to that, even after leaving the exhibition space, viewers - especially young people - can still continue their journey of historical discovery right on their phones, anytime, anywhere.

“I really like this supplement,” said Tran Mai Linh, 20, a student at Hanoi Law University. “It’s like a mobile ‘mini museum’. Whenever I have free time, I open it to read and look at the pictures. It feels very different from traditional history books. Our generation is used to phones and social networks, so integrating technology like this is an effective way to connect history with young people,” Linh said.

Present early at the entrance of the exhibition, Nguyen Duy Son excitedly opened the supplement he had just received to experience with his friend. Currently a student at Ha Long University, Quang Ninh, Duy Son said he had traveled from his home in Uong Bi to receive the supplement in person.

“Yesterday afternoon, I went to queue but did not receive it. This morning, I came back early and was happy that the supplement had reached me,” Son shared.

Students Nguyen Duy Son and Nguyen Tuan Minh arrived at the exhibition early.

Luu Ngoc Diep, a teacher at Thuan Thanh High School in Bac Ninh, also traveled a long way to attend the exhibition. “In the atmosphere of the whole country looking forward to the day of Southern Liberation and national reunification, in this space, I feel moved.”

Ngoc Diep said that her family has a grandmother who is a Vietnamese Heroic Mother, two uncles who are martyrs, and a father who is a war invalid and veteran. “I feel extremely lucky to be born in peacetime, to witness the joy of peace in the country. It is even more joyful when I am a teacher, to witness young people interested in and learning about history,” Ngoc Diep shared.

Ms. Ngoc Diep's grandfather is a veteran and also a long-time reader of Nhan Dan Newspaper. "Due to health reasons, his wish to go to Ho Chi Minh City had to be postponed. He also could not come to the exhibition today, so he asked me to pick up the supplement."

“This will be a precious gift to bring back to my grandfather,” said Ms. Diep.

According to teacher Diep, the young people happily came to receive the newspaper not only to “follow the trend”, but also to spread patriotism from the publication of Nhan Dan Newspaper. “The editorial office has created many special pages and publications on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. Through this, young people will understand more about the history of the country, know how our ancestors fell so that we can have today.

For Ms. Huong Giang (Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi), the special supplement of Nhan Dan Newspaper on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification has an even more emotional meaning.

She shared that she was born on April 30 - the day marking the historic victory of the nation. Therefore, publications that remind her of that sacred moment always leave her with pride and deep emotions.

“Receiving this supplement, I feel like I have been given the most meaningful birthday present. Each printed page, each image tells a story not only of the nation, but also of my own family,” Ms. Huong Giang confided.

What is more special, she said, her father enlisted on April 30, joining the army of liberation soldiers. Therefore, the historical imprints wrapped up in this supplement become even more special, making it not only a gift for her but also a vivid memory, a word of gratitude sent to her father, the soldier of the past.

“For my family, this is not simply a historical publication. It is a memory, a source of pride, an unforgettable gift,” Ms. Giang said emotionally.

More than just an exhibition event, Nhan Dan Newspaper's interactive exhibition has inspired the young generation of Vietnam in their journey to learn about and love national history.

Many young people shared that after visiting the exhibition, they felt that history was no longer dry lessons, but real life stories, real people, real emotions.

“The exhibition helps us see history closer to us and more vividly,” Tuan Minh said. “It reminds us that we are living in the achievements of many previous generations.”

The interactive exhibition celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper has proven that: History can not only be preserved through books and artifacts, but can also be "revived" strongly and attractively through technology and creative storytelling. And most importantly, the exhibition has aroused national pride and inspired the young generation of Vietnam - those who will continue to write new chapters in the journey of building the country.
