When farmers are "artists"!

The units brought many special performances to the festival.

During the days when the whole country celebrates the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), at Trung Nu Vuong Square (Long Xuyen City), An Giang Farmers' Association in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized the 6th An Giang Farmers' Arts Festival in 2025, with the participation of more than 170 contestants representing 11 districts, towns and cities in the whole province.

Chairman of the An Giang Farmers' Association Le Phuoc Dung said: "The 2025 An Giang Farmers' Arts Festival aims to promote the movement and enhance cultural and artistic activities among farmers, in conjunction with the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas". At the same time, it helps preserve and promote good traditional cultural values, strengthen solidarity and cohesion among members and farmers, contributing to building an increasingly rich and beautiful homeland. The event also promotes the value of folk songs, folk songs, traditional songs of the locality, increasingly meeting the cultural and artistic needs of rural people...".

With the theme “Singing and telling stories about the countryside”, the units brought unique solo and duet performances combined with illustrative dances, full of love for the homeland and country, expressing respect for Uncle Ho - Uncle Ton, gratitude for the Party and State for bringing a prosperous and happy life to farmers. It is also a deep love for An Giang fields, with stories close to the daily life and work of farmers...

Only by attending the festival can one see the love and “artistic” qualities inside the people who “sell their faces to the ground and their backs to the sky” all year round. They are not proficient in stage skills, but they perform with all their passion. Each unit, when coming to the festival, brings with them their own stories of the land where they were born. It could be the hustle and bustle of the Via Ba season in Chau Doc, the rusticity of the An Phu headland, the deep sweetness of the Tan Chau river town… All create their own colors, so that when looking back, one will clearly see a complete shape and appearance of the charming An Giang land with its simple and friendly people.

As an audience member, Ho Ngoc Nhu (Long Xuyen City) stayed to support the performing units until the end of the festival. Ngoc Nhu was very impressed with the performances that the units performed on stage. Although farmers work in the fields all year round, their singing and lyrics are still very sweet, making young people like Ngoc Nhu excited. This young person also said that he was especially impressed with the performance of An Phu district, with its rustic, innocent quality that is "very peasant", but also sweet with the smooth, very "artistic" vọng cổ verses performed by the contestants from the upstream region.

Excited after completing her unit's performance, contestant Ho Cam Kim (Tri Ton unit) shared: "Coming to the 6th An Giang Farmers' Arts Festival/2025 with the performance titled "Tri Ton - love of land and people", we want to promote the image of local farmers, with their rise above the harsh conditions of weather and soil to create rice grains. Currently, Tri Ton farmers also develop tourism , actively participate in patriotic emulation movements in the locality, joining the common development of An Giang province and the whole country". Ho Cam Kim also shared that Tri Ton unit came to the festival with the spirit of learning as the main focus. However, each member of the Tri Ton district farmers' arts team always strives to perform the best in each performance, aiming for the best results at the festival.

With attractive performances, the 6th An Giang Farmers' Arts Festival 2025 has truly become a special mark in the hearts of members and farmers throughout the province. Thereby, encouraging people to participate more and more actively in the association's work and the farmers' movement, continue to strive to develop the economy, and contribute to the development of An Giang homeland.

Through the exciting competition, the units: Tri Ton, Chau Doc, Tan Chau excellently won the A prize for the whole group; the units An Phu, Phu Tan, Chau Thanh won the B prize for the whole group; the units Cho Moi, Tinh Bien, Thoai Son, Chau Phu, Long Xuyen won the C prize for the whole group. The organizing committee also awarded A, B, C prizes for each content of storytelling, duet, solo.
