Organized annually by Vietnam Television (VTV), Robocon continues to affirm itself as a large-scale technology and engineering playground, helping students develop creative thinking, practical ability and teamwork skills.
The preliminary round of the competition will take place on June 5 and 6, with the participation of 62 teams from 19 universities and technical academies nationwide. From here, the 32 best teams will be selected to enter the National Final Round, held in Ninh Binh province from June 8 to 13. The winning team will represent Vietnam at the ABU Robocon 2025 final round in Mongolia.
This year, the competition theme proposed by the host country Mongolia is “Robots playing basketball”, a theme that combines sports and technology, requiring robots to not only move flexibly and position accurately, but also coordinate to throw the ball into the basket effectively. The competing teams need to build a tight competition strategy, clearly divide the offensive and defensive roles, and optimize the competition time.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, journalist Nguyen Thu Ha, Head of VTV Science and Education Department, Deputy Head of Vietnam Robocon 2025 Standing Committee, said that Robocon is not only a playground for technical creativity but also an ideal practice environment for students to practice problem-solving skills, teamwork and develop professional qualities.
A new highlight of Robocon 2025 is the series of events “Robotics Connect - Connecting Creativity and Career Opportunities”, including a robot exhibition area and specialized seminars. This is where students, schools, businesses and technology experts meet, exchange and expand cooperation opportunities in the fields of robotics, automation and artificial intelligence (AI).
According to Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province, the locality is ready in terms of facilities and infrastructure to accompany the competition. All matches and sideline activities at the Robocon 2025 Final Round will be broadcast live on VTV and digital platforms, bringing a convenient viewing experience to audiences nationwide.
