Hanoi - Attractive destination

As a major tourist center of the country, the capital Hanoi attracts many residents and tourists during the New Year holiday this year. With a short break, many families have chosen to stay in Hanoi to experience fun and relaxing activities. The family of Ms. Nguyen Anh Thu (Cau Giay district, from Thanh Hoa) did not return to their hometown this year but brought her parents to Hanoi to celebrate the New Year. "The weather is warm and sunny this year, we took our parents to the walking street around Hoan Kiem Lake and enjoyed the cuisine in the Old Quarter," Ms. Anh Thu shared.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tran Tuan Dat's family (Thanh Xuan district) chose a resort in Ba Vi to relax and welcome the new year with their family. "The vacation is short, so we decided to relax in Hanoi instead of traveling far away. Currently, Hanoi has many attractive tourism products such as night tours, cultural experience tours and many quality resorts that can meet the needs of family members," Mr. Dat expressed.

According to the reporter of Hanoi Moi Newspaper, during the New Year holiday this year, many destinations in Hanoi attracted people and tourists such as: Hoan Kiem Lake walking space and vicinity, Thu Le Park, Duong Lam ancient village, "Flower Land" festival at Thong Nhat Park, Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village... Many accommodation establishments in the suburbs of Hanoi were full of guests such as: Mit Village, Glory (Son Tay); Tan Da, Medi Thien Son, Ao Vua (Ba Vi)... Manager of Melia Ba Vi Mountain Retreat resort Hoang Van Phuong said that the number of guests booking rooms at this resort was full before the holiday.

New Year tourism in Hanoi promises to bring prosperity to the capital's tourism in 2024. Chairman of the Hanoi Travel Association Phung Quang Thang assessed that the positive signals of the capital's tourism in the new year will create "leverage" for units and localities to continue to build new, quality products that are more competitive and suitable to the needs of tourists. Currently, the Hanoi Department of Tourism is coordinating with localities to build and develop many suburban tourism routes such as: Hanoi Center - Thanh Oai - Thanh Tri - Thuong Tin - Phu Xuyen route and Hanoi Center - Thanh Oai - Ung Hoa - My Duc route. "Suburban tourism products associated with culture and craft villages will be the highlight contributing to increasing the attractiveness of Hanoi tourism in 2024", Mr. Phung Quang Thang commented.

Tourism is almost on the rise

Welcoming the New Year 2024, many provinces and cities organized events to stimulate tourism. Dien Bien province opened the Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum for free to people of all ethnic groups in Dien Bien province on the first day of the new year 2024. Mu Cang Chai district (Yen Bai province) organized a festival of To Day flowers associated with honoring the Mong flute, which has just been recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage in the form of folk performing arts. Ha Giang province organized the Dao Ethnic Cultural Festival with the expectation of welcoming 10,000 visitors during the Tet holiday. Sa Pa town (Lao Cai province) organized a series of events of the Winter Festival "Sa Pa - Snowy Paradise 2023 - Welcome to the Spring of Giap Thin 2024" taking place from December 20, 2023 to January 1, 2024, attracting a large number of tourists, many accommodation establishments announced that they were fully booked many days before Tet.

According to travel agencies, the number of visitors for New Year 2023 tourism has increased compared to the same period last year, but the number of visitors is evenly distributed, so there is no overload. General Director of Flamingo Redtour Tourism Company Nguyen Cong Hoan assessed that due to the short holiday, visitors tend to choose short-distance tours. For domestic tours, visitors tend to stay in place or travel near Hanoi (for visitors from Hanoi). In particular, the tours that attract visitors are still the journey to the Northeast - Northwest, typically: Sa Pa (Lao Cai), Dong Van (Ha Giang), Ba Be (Bac Kan), Ban Gioc (Cao Bang), Lang Son, Moc Chau (Son La), Ta Xua (Son La) ... For international tourists, border tourism at Mong Cai - Dong Hung border gates or tours to Laos and Cambodia are chosen by many visitors due to convenient travel.

The good news for Vietnamese tourism on the first day of the new year 2024 is also the improvement of sea tourism. During this Tet holiday, Vietnam welcomed 5 international cruise ships "first in the year" at seaports across the country, bringing thousands of tourists to experience the journey across Vietnam.

Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh said that the tourism industry is setting many high goals in 2024, which are to welcome 17-18 million international visitors; serve 110 million domestic tourists. With positive signs from the beginning of 2024, Vietnam tourism hopes to quickly restore the market to the pre-Covid-19 period.
