Prosecution of former district secretary to clarify forest land acquisition case

On the evening of March 28, the Investigation Police Agency of Binh Dinh Province Police announced that it had initiated a case and prosecuted Mr. Nguyen Dinh Kim, former Secretary of the Vinh Thanh District Party Committee (Binh Dinh), to investigate the act of abusing his position and power to influence others for personal gain. Mr. Kim is currently on bail and is prohibited from leaving his place of residence.

The protective forest land in Sub-area 176a was allocated land and granted land use right certificates in violation of regulations.

According to the conclusion of the Binh Dinh Provincial Inspectorate, in 2004, the People's Committee of Vinh Thanh District allocated land and issued land use right certificates to households and individuals in sub-area 176a, former Vinh Hoa commune (now Vinh Hiep commune, Vinh Thanh district) and sub-area 169, Vinh Hao commune (Vinh Thanh district) not to the correct subjects according to regulations, with signs of collusion, legalizing land allocation records, and registering the land in the name of households, causing damage to the State of 138.4 hectares of protective forest land.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Kim confirmed that the handwriting and signatures in the land allocation applications of 5 cases (including: his sister, 3 nephews and son) were all written and signed by him. Since the land was allocated (in 2004) until now, Mr. Kim has directly managed and used the land to grow neem and acacia...

At the end of 2022, the Binh Dinh Provincial Inspectorate recommended that the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee transfer the above case file to the Investigation Police Agency of Binh Dinh Provincial Police for investigation, clarification and handling according to the provisions of law.

Currently, 138.4 hectares of protective forest of Mr. Nguyen Dinh Kim's family have been recovered.
