On the morning of July 23, a nearly 6-minute clip was circulated on social media, recording a girl sharing that she was "lured" into having a health check at a private facility for a fee of 300,000 VND.
According to the clip, she went to Hai Chau Regional Medical Center for a health check-up to supplement her job application, but the security guard there said "we don't do medical check-ups here" and then directed her to 38 Cao Thang.
Here, a person claiming to be a tour guide continued to direct her to 39 Cao Thang, which is actually a grocery store.
At the shop, a woman named D. asked for health information such as height, weight, eyesight, etc., then arbitrarily wrote down in the profile the measurements "more beautiful than reality".
Then, this person took the girl to a clinic about 400m away for blood and urine tests. The total cost was 300,000 VND.
When she found out that someone else had the same examination for only 100,000 VND, the girl returned to the shop to ask for a refund. She was given 50,000 VND back with the reason that “she had to pay for many people”.

Regarding the incident, Deputy Director in charge of Hai Chau Regional Medical Center Nguyen Canh Viet affirmed that the unit does not have any agreements or connections with private facilities or outside individuals in health examination activities.
It is not part of the unit's formal reception procedures for staff or people in protective gear to "direct" patients to an opposite address or to an unknown facility.
"As soon as we received the feedback, we conducted an internal review and checked the relevant departments, including security guards, reception staff and health check-up service team. If we detect any individuals colluding or abetting fraudulent acts or personal gain, the unit will strictly handle them according to the law and the agency's rules and regulations," Dr. Viet shared.
Doctor Viet added that the unit is currently only allowed to conduct health checks for drivers without foreign elements, and the cost is publicly listed. People need to go to the official reception desk on the first floor, do not follow instructions from strangers, do not wear uniforms or do not wear name tags. The cost of health checks is publicly listed.
On the same day, Hai Chau Regional Medical Center sent a document to the Department of Health and Hai Chau Ward Police, requesting coordination to verify the incident and prevent impersonation that affects the reputation of the unit.
The center recommends that people who need a health check-up should follow the correct procedures and not believe in enticements or brokers. If they detect any unusual signs, they can contact the hotline 0965.061.818 or report them via the suggestion box located at the reception area.
