How much is the fine for not obeying traffic signs?

According to Clause 4, Article 10 of the 2008 Road Traffic Law:

" 4. Road signs include five groups, regulated as follows"

a) Prohibition signs to indicate prohibitions;

b) Danger signs to warn of potentially dangerous situations;

c) Command signs to indicate commands that must be executed;

d) Signs to indicate directions or things to know; e) Additional signs to explain additional types of prohibition signs, danger signs, command signs and directional signs .

" Article 11: Compliance with road signs

1. Traffic participants must obey the commands and instructions of the road signal system.

2. When there is a traffic controller, traffic participants must obey the traffic controller's commands.

3. Where there is a permanent traffic sign and a temporary traffic sign, road users must obey the temporary traffic sign.

4. At places with pedestrian crossings, vehicle drivers must observe, reduce speed and give way to pedestrians and wheelchairs of the disabled to cross the road .

According to Decree 100/2019/ND-CP on administrative sanctions in the field of road traffic, failure to comply with road signs and markings will be subject to the following penalties:

For cars: Fine from 200,000 - 400,000 VND. If causing a traffic accident, the driver will have his/her driving license revoked for about 2 - 4 months.

For motorbikes: Fine from 100,000 - 200,000 VND. If causing a traffic accident, the driver will have his/her driving license revoked for about 2 - 4 months.

In addition, the violation of not obeying the commands and instructions of signs or road markings is also regulated separately in the case of crossing level crossings, shared bridges and railway tunnels. Specifically, the fine in this case is as follows:

For pedestrians: Fine from 60,000 - 100,000 VND.

For bicycles, motorbikes, and rudimentary vehicles: Fine from 80,000 - 100,0000 VND.

For motorbikes, scooters, electric motorbikes: Fine from 200,000 - 300,000 VND.

For cars and similar vehicles, tractors, specialized motorbikes: Fine from 800,000 - 1,000,000 VND.
