(NLDO) - Because there are not enough teachers to open classes for all groups, Ham Thuan Bac High School has changed students' wishes, causing parents to react.

Many parents of students at Ham Thuan Bac High School ( Lam Dong province) have filed a complaint that their children were placed in classes that did not match their initial wishes because the school did not have the conditions to open classes according to the combination.

After receiving comments, the school board said it would announce adjustments to the class placement method.

Unexpectedly changed wishes

On August 6, some parents whose children are preparing to enter grade 10 at Ham Thuan Bac High School in the 2025-2026 school year reported that their students were placed in classes that were not according to their initial registration wishes.

According to parents, the school had previously conducted a survey, requiring students to choose a subject group based on their abilities and interests (natural sciences, social sciences, environmental sciences , foreign languages), as a basis for class placement.

However, on August 5, through an announcement on the school's fanpage, many students discovered that the list of 10th graders announced by the school did not match their chosen wishes.

Instead of studying the subject combinations that match their learning orientation, many students are transferred to other classes. This makes students feel disappointed and worried, affecting their psychology before the new school year.

Parents believe that rearranging classes for the sake of management and teacher placement should not change the students' learning orientation. "We sincerely hope that the school will respect their wishes and create conditions for students to study the correct combination they registered for, thereby having long-term preparation for the future," a parent shared.

The school will adjust the class placement plan.

Responding to Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , Mr. Tran Trung Toan, Principal of Ham Thuan Bac High School, said the reason why some students were not placed according to their initial wishes was because the school did not have enough teachers to open all groups at the same time as planned.

However, to ensure the rights of students and create conditions for some students with relatively high scores to register for their second choice (group 1) to return to their first choice (group 2), the Board of Directors has decided to adjust the class structure. Specifically, the school will reduce 1 group 1 class and increase 1 group 2 class.

"This is the school's official plan based on creating the best learning environment for the children. We hope that parents will cooperate so that the class placement can achieve the highest educational efficiency," said Mr. Toan.

The Board of Directors of Ham Thuan Bac High School said the new class list will be announced before August 10, 2025.

Previously, Ham Thuan Bac High School announced the list of 4 subject combinations for grade 10, school year 2025 - 2026.

In addition to compulsory subjects, students are classified into classes according to their admission preferences, including: combination 1 (Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Technology), combination 2 (Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Informatics), combination 3 (Geography, Biology, Technology, Economic and Legal Education) and combination 4 (Physics, Informatics, Technology, Economic and Legal Education).
