Continuously developing cooperation between Vietnam, Indonesia and Singapore

On the afternoon of October 31, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received the Ambassadors of Indonesia and Singapore who came to say goodbye on the occasion of the end of their working term in Vietnam.

Congratulating Indonesian Ambassador Denny Abdi on successfully completing his term in Vietnam and being appointed as Secretary General of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the Ambassador's positive contributions in promoting the strong development of bilateral relations in recent years.

The Prime Minister was pleased that the political relationship between the two countries is extremely trustworthy and close; the two sides regularly maintain visits and contacts at high and all levels; bilateral cooperation mechanisms are effectively promoted, people-to-people exchanges are increasingly flourishing; economic relations are a bright spot in bilateral cooperation, with trade turnover reaching 16.7 billion USD in 2024; many Vietnamese enterprises such as Vinfast, TH,FPT are very interested in implementing cooperation in Indonesia...

The two sides also cooperate closely and coordinate their stances at regional and international forums, especially within the framework of ASEAN, to join other members and partners in actively contributing to maintaining intra-bloc solidarity and ASEAN's central role, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.

Indonesian Ambassador Denny Abdi sincerely thanked the Prime Minister for taking the time to meet him and for his positive assessment of the relationship between the two countries, as well as the Ambassador's role in the relationship. Indonesian Ambassador Denny Abdi said that Indonesia supports and is ready to cooperate with Vietnam to remove the IUU yellow card, and believes that other ASEAN countries will also support this.

Agreeing with Ambassador Denny Abdi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also asked Indonesia to facilitate Vietnamese agricultural products to access the Indonesian market; cooperate in developing the Halal industry to soon bring bilateral trade to 18 billion USD; and affirmed that Vietnam is ready to negotiate an agreement to strengthen cooperation in food security, including rice trade.

In particular, the Prime Minister asked both sides to promote the effective implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on Fisheries Cooperation; and hoped that Indonesia would acknowledge Vietnam ’s efforts in preventing and combating IUU fishing. The two sides should continue to strengthen cooperation, consolidate solidarity and the central role of ASEAN, especially in issues such as the East Sea, Myanmar, etc.

Receiving Singaporean Ambassador Jaya Ratnam for farewell, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated and highly appreciated the Ambassador for his excellent performance in Vietnam over the past 4 years. During the Ambassador's term, Singapore has cooperated and actively supported Vietnam in preventing and fighting the Covid-19 pandemic; the two sides have upgraded their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, a milestone in the history of bilateral relations, and established the Green Economy - Digital Economy Partnership.

The Prime Minister and the Ambassador assessed that economics, trade and investment have always been bright spots in bilateral relations. Seven new Vietnam -Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs) were established during the Ambassador's term, forming a network of 20 VSIPs in 13 provinces and cities, operating effectively, symbolizing successful bilateral cooperation. Most recently, on October 30, Singapore and Vietnam signed a Memorandum of Understanding on rice trade cooperation.

The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership with Singapore in the spirit of "doing what you said". In particular, the Prime Minister suggested continuing to develop new generation VSIP projects with the "4 in 1" model (industrial park, science and technology park, innovation park, trade and service park and urban area).

The Prime Minister also suggested that the two sides continue to promote ASEAN power grid cooperation, export offshore wind power from Vietnam to Singapore; strengthen cooperation in science and technology, innovation, digital transformation; and cooperation in culture, education, and training of high-quality officials and human resources.

For his part, sharing his good feelings and deep impressions of Vietnam , considering Vietnam as his second home, the Ambassador affirmed that over the past 80 years, Vietnam has overcome all difficulties in the past and always looks towards a better future.

Affirming that there is still a lot of room for bilateral cooperation, the Ambassador agreed with the Prime Minister's opinions on bilateral relations with more initiatives, especially promoting cooperation in developing new generation VSIPs with the goal of 30 VSIP zones in Vietnam in the near future, as well as other fields such as trade, semiconductor chips, science and technology, staff training, promoting people-to-people exchange, etc. Along with that, the two sides can strengthen cooperation to support third countries.
