Attending from the Vietnamese side were representatives from the Department of Foreign Market Development, the Vietnam Trade Office in the UK, and the Vietnam National Energy Corporation. On the British side, there was the participation of the British Ambassador to Vietnam, Iain Frew, and the British Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Alex Smith.

According to a VNA reporter in London, the Ministry of Industry and Trade signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Clean Energy Cooperation with the UK Foreign Office, and a MoU on Product Safety with the UK Department for Business and Trade.

The two agreements were negotiated and signed on the basis of close and effective cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and UK partners in the fields of trade and clean energy, promising much development potential, affirming specific cooperation directions in the pillars of cooperation in the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that Vietnam and the UK established during the visit of General Secretary To Lam.

The signing of the Clean Energy Cooperation MoU establishes the UK-Vietnam Clean Energy Cooperation framework and is a strategic step forward, in line with the goals of net zero emissions and sustainable growth of both countries, and complements the signing of the Green Finance Cooperation with the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam. With this document, the two sides consolidate and expand the clean energy cooperation framework, including expanding renewable energy; strengthening grid infrastructure and transmission; mobilizing public and private finance for the green transition; perfecting the legal framework to promote clean energy investment; promoting innovation and technology exchange to ensure sustainable green growth in the future.

The Memorandum of Understanding on Product Safety affirms the parties' desire to strengthen trade cooperation and promote the positive development of the two countries' goods trade market through cooperation on methods and measures to prevent unsafe products and goods; support in improving knowledge and awareness on preventing unsafe products and goods; and exchange of experiences and good practices in developing, managing and operating e-commerce platforms.

The signing of these two agreements promotes the effective implementation of existing cooperation frameworks, while realizing the contents stated in the Joint Statement on upgrading the comprehensive partnership between the two countries, creating positive effects and contributing to the economic development of the two countries.

After the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long discussed with Mr. Chris McDonald about active bilateral and multilateral cooperation activities between the two countries in the fields of energy trade.

Immediately after the bilateral meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long attended and spoke at the reception for Vietnamese and British businesses, organized by the UK Department for Business and Trade under the chairmanship of the UK Prime Minister's Special Envoy for Trade with Vietnam, Matt Western, with the participation of leaders and representatives of ministries, branches and major agencies of the two countries. Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long reviewed the proud achievements of cooperation between the two countries in the past time and the direction and prospects in the coming time.
