Mr. Tu explained that according to the dossier submitted to UNESCO for approval, it includes: the entire Lan Ha Bay, Cat Ba National Park, Cat Ba World Biosphere Reserve, part of the area belonging to the communes: Gia Luan, Xuan Dam. The entire Cat Ba town, Ben Beo area, the area implementing the Cat Ba Amatina project of Vinaconex, Hien Hao commune, Phu Long commune... are not within the boundaries recognized as the world natural heritage of Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba archipelago because this is an area that has been planned for economic development, residential development, commercial areas, tourism and services.
Regarding the regulations on tourism service exploitation for the world natural heritage Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba archipelago, according to the representative of Hai Phong Department of Tourism, they are waiting for the Government's direction. After that, the two localities, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh, will agree on a plan for joint exploitation.
At that time, the activity of taking tourists to visit Ha Long Bay of Quang Ninh and Lan Ha Bay of Hai Phong will become simpler. Tourists can buy tickets for a tour of Ha Long Bay or visit Lan Ha Bay by the hour; or tourists can buy tickets for a tour of both bays.
Turtle Island - an attractive tourist destination on Lan Ha Bay in Cat Ba archipelago, Cat Hai district (Hai Phong city)
According to information from the Hai Phong City People's Committee, by the time it was recognized by UNESCO as a world natural heritage (September 16, 2023), the city had spent 10 years preparing and pursuing the nomination of Cat Ba archipelago as a world natural heritage along with Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh).
The point that makes the attraction for tourists when coming to Cat Ba Island is Lan Ha Bay. This bay is located in the east of Cat Ba Island and is the connecting bridge between Cat Ba Island and Ha Long Bay. The area of the bay is over 7,000 hectares, but of which more than 5,400 hectares are under the management of the UNESCO-recognized biosphere reserve - Cat Ba National Park.
Lan Ha Bay is surrounded by more than 400 large and small islands with 139 small sandy beaches such as Ang Vem, Cat Dua, Cat Co, Ben Beo, Co Tien, Van Boi, Van Ha...
With its pristine beauty and charming scenery, in May 2020, the World's Most Beautiful Bays Club Association recognized Lan Ha Bay as one of the most beautiful bays in the world.
