The Kia EV4 hatchback and sedan debuted in Spain in February, but that event was focused on the European market. At the 2025 New York International Auto Show, the Korean automaker unveiled the North American version of the model. |

In the US market, the new 2025 Kia EV4 will only be sold as a sedan. The EV4 is Kia's first global electric sedan in the US and will compete directly with the Tesla Model 3 from the first quarter of 2026. Unsurprisingly, the Kia EV4 in the US is almost identical to the European version. |

The Kia EV4 is built on the 400V E-GMP platform. At this time, the car only has a 201-horsepower electric motor and front-wheel drive with 2 battery options. The Light version uses a 58.3 kWh battery, providing an operating range of 376 km, enough for urban use. The Wind and GT-Line versions use a larger battery with a capacity of 81.4 kWh. |

The Wind can travel 320 miles, while the GT-Line’s range remains a mystery. A DC fast charger can charge the Light’s battery from 10% to 80% in about 29 minutes, while the other two models take just two minutes, despite having larger batteries. The car is equipped with a standard NACS charging port, allowing it to use Tesla’s Supercharger network. |

Kia wants to prove that electric cars, especially electric sedans like the EV4, don’t have to be boring. On paper, the new model has all the ingredients to combine “a fun driving experience” with “high levels of comfort,” as Kia confidently claims. |

That’s a big expectation, but the EV4’s MacPherson front and multi-link rear suspension, along with reinforced chassis in key areas, should deliver on Kia’s promises. Unfortunately, the Kia EV4’s US pricing has yet to be announced. |
