VHO - The Department of Culture and Sports of Kien Giang province has just coordinated with Giong Rieng district to organize the Ceremony to announce the Decision and receive the Certificate of ranking as a provincial-level historical-cultural relic of Hoa Thuan communal house.
Hoa Thuan communal house was built in the early 19th century at the Chop Mau intersection, in An Thuan village, Kien Dinh commune, Kien Giang district, An Bien prefecture, Ha Tien town (now Hoa Thuan commune, Giong Rieng district, Kien Giang province).
On November 29, 1852, Hoa Thuan communal house was granted the title of tutelary god by King Tu Duc. During the resistance war, Hoa Thuan communal house became a place for patriotic revolutionaries to organize propaganda campaigns to rally the army and people to fight against the French invaders; a place to gather and train young pioneers and red militiamen, organize popular education classes, and launch production promotion campaigns...
Also during this period, Hoa Thuan communal house was destroyed many times; at one point, the Sacrificial Board sent the seal to Nguyen Trung Truc communal house in Mong Tho, Chau Thanh.
In 1993, the communal house was rebuilt more spaciously, becoming a place where people come to worship until today.
Among them, the most prominent are the Shang Tian Festival from the 15th to the 17th of the third lunar month and the Ha Tian Festival from the 15th to the 17th of the twelfth lunar month every year. In addition, the Communal House is also a place to reconcile people’s disagreements in life, and a place for entertainment on festival days.
Hoa Thuan communal house was ranked as a provincial-level historical-cultural relic by the Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee according to Decision No. 3467 dated December 30, 2024.
Here, the People's Committee of Giong Rieng district presented the Decision to establish the Hoa Thuan Communal House Historical-Cultural Relic Protection Board consisting of 9 members, headed by Mr. Nguyen Van Ninh - Vice Chairman of Hoa Thuan Commune People's Committee.
The recognition of Hoa Thuan Communal House as a provincial historical and cultural relic contributes to enriching the local worship system, and is a place to connect the community through festivals held at the Communal House.
On this occasion, Giong Rieng district awarded certificates of merit to 01 collective and 03 individuals with achievements in contributing funds to social security work in Hoa Thuan commune; Chairman of Hoa Thuan Commune People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 06 individuals with contributions to the construction of Thanh Hoang Hoa Thuan Communal House.
