In the first quarter, the functional forces under the Steering Committee 389 of Quang Ninh province detected, arrested, and handled 752 cases of smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods; the value of infringing goods was 7.8 billion VND, an increase of 3.44% in the number of cases compared to the same period. Of which, 25 cases were criminally prosecuted with 40 subjects and 724 cases were administratively prosecuted. Particularly during the implementation of the Peak Plan before, during, and after the Lunar New Year 2025, the functional forces arrested and handled 790 cases of smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods; the value of infringing goods was 9.4 billion VND.

Directing at the conference, Comrade Cao Tuong Huy, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee 389 emphasized: Commercial fraud and counterfeit goods are increasingly complicated with many sophisticated methods and tricks, especially on e-commerce platforms, therefore, higher requirements are being placed on the implementation of solutions in the fight against smuggling, commercial fraud and counterfeit goods to protect the health and lives of the people.

In the coming time, members of the Steering Committee must continue to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the directive documents and plans of the National and Provincial Steering Committee 389 and must attach responsibility to the Party Committees, heads of agencies, units and localities in organizing the implementation of this content.

The authorities need to maintain good coordination, grasp the situation, promptly detect, prevent and strictly handle violations related to the production, transportation and trading of smuggled goods, goods of unknown origin, goods that violate intellectual property rights, smuggled goods, counterfeit labels, especially counterfeit drugs, fake foods and fake functional foods... If there are signs of criminality, they must resolutely prosecute, ensuring deterrence and strictness of the law; Propaganda and mobilize people to actively participate in denouncing violations of food safety and not to buy goods of unknown origin online; develop a plan to combat and combat commercial fraud and counterfeit goods in the field of e-commerce.

Collectives and individuals received certificates of merit from the Head of the National Steering Committee 389 for their outstanding achievements in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in 2024.

He also requested that it is necessary to promptly advise on the work of perfecting the Provincial Steering Committee 389 to ensure effective operation when the 2-level local government model will be officially implemented from July 1, 2025; review current difficulties and obstacles in the implementation of tasks of functional agencies to propose to the Central Government for early resolution.
