Two days after meeting Mr Putin at a space centre, Mr Kim Jong Un’s special train continued on to Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Russian news agencies reported. His destination is an important Russian industrial centre, where he will visit an aviation company that produces military and civilian equipment.

RIA Novosti news agency showed footage of Mr Kim's train arriving in the city with a red carpet rolled out for him. Interfax news agency said he was greeted with flowers, music , a dance group and ceremonial loaves of bread.
Mr. Kim, who is on his first official trip abroad since the COVID-19 pandemic, held talks with Mr. Putin at the Vostochny Space Center on Wednesday. Mr. Putin said on television on Wednesday that Mr. Kim “will visit factories where civil and combat aviation equipment is produced” in Komsomolsk-on-Amur.

Russia's state news agency TASS said that shortly after arriving in the city, Mr. Kim visited a factory that produces several types of fighter jets, including the Su-35 and Su-57. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday that Mr. Kim's visit would last for several more days.
According to TASS, the city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur has two large aircraft manufacturing plants - the KnAAZ plant and the production facility of the Ykovlev Group. Both are members of Russia's United Aircraft Corporation (UAC).
KnAAZ is producing advanced combat aircraft for the Russian Defense Ministry , including the Su-35 and Su-57 fighters. Together with its Ykovlev subsidiary, the company is implementing the civil aviation project to produce the Sukhoi Superjet 100.
