In just a short time, more than 15,400 candidates in the province will take the 2023 high school graduation exam. Facing the anxiety of students, teachers with many years of experience in reviewing for high school graduation exams and the province's top students in previous years' high school graduation exams shared tips for reviewing and taking the exam to achieve high scores.

Grade 12 students of Phu Cu High School (Phu Cu) review for graduation exam

As a first-year student at Hanoi Medical University and former valedictorian of the province's B group, in the top 50 candidates with the highest B group exam scores nationwide in the 2022 high school graduation exam, Nguyen Manh Chuan "revealed" a review method to help 12th grade students be more confident in the Natural Science subjects. According to Nguyen Manh Chuan, 12th grade students need to have a firm grasp of the theories of Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and focus on practicing questions. In the process of practicing exam questions, it is necessary to allocate a reasonable amount of time for each subject and create time pressure so that each student knows the level of completion of their exam questions. In class, pay close attention to the teacher's lectures and grasp the theory. Review and solve many exercises at home to grasp and remember the type of exercises. For theoretical subjects, you should study many times and grasp the main ideas, connect the knowledge together to remember longer and especially solve many multiple choice questions, review wrong answers to avoid making mistakes again. As the exam date approaches, each student needs to arrange time to eat and sleep regularly, re-read what they find necessary, and it is best not to surf Facebook or listen to surrounding information because it can easily lead to loss of concentration. In particular, after each exam, students should not look at the answers for that subject but focus on preparing knowledge for the next subjects.

In the 2022 high school graduation exam, Mai Anh Tu, a former student of Kim Dong High School (Kim Dong) excelled over thousands of candidates to become the person with the highest total graduation exam score in the province. Sharing his experience, Mai Anh Tu said that students need to have a firm grasp of the knowledge in the textbooks. If they do not understand the problem, they must immediately ask their teachers or friends. For History, it is necessary to memorize a lot of numbers to events. Candidates should arrange events in chronological order to quickly and easily memorize. For Geography, it is necessary to study the basic knowledge in textbooks carefully, pay attention to practicing how to read the Vietnam Geography Atlas well to be able to effectively utilize its uses, analyze the skills of viewing charts and tables of data. For English, it is necessary to systematize grammar knowledge and review vocabulary by topic. The reading comprehension section may depend on each person's vocabulary, but it is necessary to make sure to do the grammar sentences correctly. At this time, students can review and summarize knowledge from the practice tests and find out mistakes or missing knowledge to promptly fill in before entering the exam. For multiple-choice tests, students should learn the knowledge firmly, then practice the tests to get used to the question format and memorize. When practicing the tests, you need to stick to the textbook - this is the most important source of material to master, then refer to other materials.

With many years of experience in preparing for high school graduation exams, Ms. Pham Thi Phan, a Literature teacher at Van Lam High School (Van Lam) said: For Literature, in the reading comprehension section, students need to memorize basic knowledge including: Argumentation, language style, expression methods, rhetorical devices and effects; practice questions regularly to practice sensitivity, increase the ability to analyze and grasp problems from reading comprehension texts; develop the habit of underlining keywords and commands in the questions to answer accurately, focused and without missing ideas. For the social argument section, candidates need to have a firm grasp of the types of social argumentation and do the test step by step for each specific type of question. In particular, the literary argumentation section accounts for a lot of points in the exam, so students need to review the basic knowledge of the work such as: Author, context of creation, artistic image, lyrical emotions; pay attention to creating a general outline to have a basic framework, from which to develop analysis and comment on the work without missing ideas. In addition, candidates must also build a rich and extensive social knowledge, update current news by regularly reading newspapers, watching TV, listening to news... From there, provide specific evidence and make practical connections with themselves.

Sharing his experience in doing well on the multiple-choice Math test, teacher Pham Trinh Cuong Chinh, a Math teacher at Pham Ngu Lao High School (An Thi), said that for Math, students must have a firm grasp of the theory so that they can apply it in cases where the test questions change in the way they ask questions. Math has 50 multiple-choice questions, and the first thing after receiving the test, candidates need to skim through the entire test. During the test, candidates need to do the easy questions first, and the difficult questions later, to avoid spending too much time on one question. For easy questions, candidates should not be subjective but need to calculate and check again, then fill in the answer sheet accurately. For application questions, candidates need to read the content of the test carefully, and refer to the formulas that teachers have taught in class to solve them. With highly applied questions at the end of the exam to classify candidates, it is necessary to flexibly apply all mathematical knowledge and deductive reasoning methods to find the best solution for the test. After performing the procedures in the questions, candidates need to review again, and if they have not found the answer near the time to submit the test, candidates also need to choose based on luck, and should not miss any questions.
