On May 19, at the Town Hall of Horné Saliby, Trnava Province, the Vietnamese Embassy in Slovakia held a ceremony to celebrate the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh.
Attending the program were representatives of the Horné Saliby Town government, Vietnamese Honorary Consuls in Slovakia, representatives of the Vietnamese Association, the Vietnamese Women's Association and overseas Vietnamese living, studying and working throughout Slovakia.
At the ceremony, Ambassador Pham Truong Giang highly appreciated the fact that the Horné Saliby Town government had proactively built and thoughtfully restored the bronze plaque 8 years ago as well as carefully preserved the commemorative images of President Ho Chi Minh visiting the Town (1957). This is a symbol of the friendship between Vietnam and Slovakia, demonstrating the respect of the Slovak people for President Ho Chi Minh.
Every year on Uncle Ho's birthday, Vietnamese people from all over Slovakia gather here to remember the heroic history of the nation and the great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh, the national liberation hero and world cultural celebrity.

Mr. Pavol Dobosy, Mayor of Horné Saliby Town, said that it was a great honor to have President Ho Chi Minh visit the Town in 1957. The image of President Ho Chi Minh's closeness, simplicity, and friendliness when he came to the Town left a deep impression on the people here; he was delighted to know that the tractor that the people gave to President Ho Chi Minh was respectfully displayed in Vietnam[1].
Until now, although the generation of people who attended that event is no longer there, the Town still deeply respects and always has warm feelings for the country and people of Vietnam, and is very honored to welcome sincere Vietnamese friends back here every year to reminisce about old memories.
Mr. Nguyen Kim Dang, Vice President of the Vietnamese Association in Slovakia, affirmed that attending the 135th Birthday Anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh is a very meaningful event. The Vietnamese community in Slovakia remembers his contributions and always remembers his image throughout the struggle for national independence.
Ms. Nguyen Minh Keng, President of the Vietnamese Women's Union in Slovakia, expressed her appreciation for the good feelings of the town's people towards President Ho Chi Minh in particular and the Vietnamese people in general.
Slovakian friends and overseas Vietnamese expressed their hope that the two sides will continue to strengthen solidarity and friendly exchanges through sports and cultural activities and meetings and exchanges in the coming time.

On this occasion, Ambassador Pham Truong Giang inquired about the socio-economic situation of the Town, emphasizing the significance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in many fields between the localities and people of the two countries, especially on the occasion of 2025 being the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Slovakia diplomatic relations.
Mayor Pavol Dobosy shared that the town used to have strengths in agricultural production, but has gradually shifted to the assembly and mechanical industry to suit Slovakia's general development orientation; he said that the town is ready to exchange and share cooperation potential with Vietnamese localities.

The two sides reaffirmed the importance of the traditional friendly partnership between Vietnam and Slovakia; agreed to study and seek the possibility of local-level cooperation in a number of areas such as trade, transformation experience, cooperatives, high-tech agriculture, mechanics and assembly... and other potential areas in the future.
The ceremony took place in an intimate and friendly atmosphere. Both sides raised their glasses to celebrate the close, close and historically important relationship between Slovakian friends and Vietnamese expatriates.
[1] The Horne Saliby Cooperative presented Uncle Ho with a Zetor-15K tractor when he visited. After being transported to Vietnam, Uncle Ho presented the tractor to the people of Vinh Kim commune, Vinh Linh special zone, in December 1959.
