Shotaro Odate, an engineer in charge of advanced safety technology (ADAS) development at Honda, drew attention during the unveiling of Honda Sensing 360+ for the Accord e:HEV. The system enhances monitoring capabilities and provides comprehensive safety support functions for a smoother and safer driving experience.
However, Odate stood out from the technological system thanks to his unique hairstyle, which reminded many people of Kakashi Hatake from the anime Naruto . His hairstyle, with thick bangs covering one eye and a spiky top, became an interesting highlight of the event.
Joining Honda in 2003 and leading the ADAS project since 2015, Odate has registered 251 patents and published 9 papers. In addition to his professional skills, he is also known for his strong physique, being able to lift 170 kg of weights 5 times in a row.
Although many people thought that Odate intentionally styled his hair like Kakashi, a colleague explained that it was his natural style over the years.
The Honda Sensing 360+ system developed by Odate provides support features such as active lane change, lane departure warning, proximity vehicle detection when opening the door, and automatic control on the highway, providing a more convenient and safer semi-autonomous driving experience.
