Vietnamese chess player wins big at U.14 age group of world youth chess tournament

The World Youth and Children's Chess Championship for rapid and blitz chess, held from April 14 to 17 in Greece, recorded the success of the Vietnamese U.14 chess players.

In the rapid chess event that ended on the evening of April 15, player Nguyen Nam Kiet excellently won the U.14 open age group. After 11 games, Nguyen Nam Kiet won 8 games, drew 2 games, lost 1 game and had a total of 9 points. The number 1 seed of this event, Dau Khuong Duy, also scored 9 points but lost the match against Nguyen Nam Kiet and had to come in second. In addition, the third place also belonged to Vietnamese player Duong Vu Anh.

Nguyen Nam Kiet played excellently, winning the U.14 World Championship in rapid chess.

There are 43 players competing in the U.14 Rapid Chess Open, including strong players from Russia, Poland, the US, Norway, China... but the trio of Vietnamese players had an impressive performance. Head Khuong Duy is the U.14 World Champion in 2024, a tournament in which Nguyen Nam Kiet also won a bronze medal. In 2023, Khuong Duy won a gold medal, Nam Kiet won a silver medal. This is considered a "pair of friends progressing together" of Vietnamese youth chess, if continued to receive good investment, it promises to reap more success.
