Kyowon Tour Network released a report on “Overseas Travel Trends for Summer Vacations and Popular Travel Destinations” on July 1, showing that Mongolia and Vietnam ranked first and second, respectively, among overseas travel destinations for Korean tourists this summer.

The analysis also found that this was due to the increase in the number of routes to these countries, focused on low-cost carriers (LCCs), making them more accessible to tourists.

Kyowon Tour's analysis of travel booking data shows that Mongolia ranks first, accounting for 18.3% of total bookings. It is considered a particularly popular travel destination for young Koreans, as the average temperature in Mongolia is not too high even in mid-summer, providing a pleasant feeling.

The increase in tourism demand in Mongolia is analyzed to be due to the increase in Mongolia's flight routes focused on low-cost airlines, departing from local airports in South Korea such as Busan, Cheongju and Daegu.

Changes in consumer trends are also having an impact. Surveys show that tourists want to visit destinations that offer new experiences.

In particular, premium products account for 45.7% of total bookings by tourists to Mongolia.

During the same period, Vietnam is the second most popular country with 16.8% of bookings in the summer of 2025.

By region, Nha Trang ranked first with 49.3% of bookings, followed by Da Nang with 24.7% and Phu Quoc with 24.5%.

Some of the reasons why Korean tourists love Nha Trang include its beautiful, natural beaches and diverse entertainment activities; its developed infrastructure and tourism services, its friendliness to Koreans, and its many convenient direct flights.

From Korea, there are now direct flights from Seoul to Nha Trang, Busan to Nha Trang, and Daegu to Nha Trang with increased number of flights.

Statistics show that there are about 78 flights per week, equivalent to 11 flights per day, connecting Korea to Nha Trang, operated by 8-9 major airlines from both Vietnam and Korea.

Following Vietnam are China with 13.3%, Japan with 8.6% and Thailand with 7.3%. In China, Baekdu Mountain and Zhangjiajie are popular destinations for middle-aged and elderly Koreans.

Among long-haul destinations, Europe is the most popular. Eastern Europe (6.2%), Western Europe (6.0%), Northern Europe (4.5%) and Southern Europe (3.6%) ranked sixth to ninth.

Australia, which has a cool climate even in summer, ranked 10th.

This summer, in addition to traditionally popular regions such as Southeast Asia and Japan, demand for tourist destinations with unique nature and culture, such as Mongolia, has increased significantly, said a Kyowon Tour official.

Kyowon Tour Company will continue to introduce different products to meet the diverse travel trends of Korean tourists./.
