Great potential
According to the Project on Restructuring and Reorganizing Administrative Units at All Levels approved by the Government, the new Lam Dong province has a total area of up to 24,233.1 km² and a population of about 3,324,400 people, becoming the province with the largest natural area and population in the country after the merger. The province has a favorable geographical location, bordering Cambodia and many large provinces and cities such as Dak Lak, Dong Nai, Khanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, with a 140 km long border and a 192 km long coastline. This not only creates favorable conditions for economic development but also opens up many opportunities for the tourism industry.
Tourism continues to be a bright spot in the province's socio-economic development; many large-scale festivals, events, national sports competitions... In particular, the 10th Da Lat Flower Festival was successful, continuing to affirm Da Lat City as the Flower Festival City of Vietnam, a creative city in the field of music by UNESCO and a city in the Group of 5 impressive Festival Cities of Asia.
Lien Khuong Airport is recognized as an international airport; the transport infrastructure system continues to receive investment, upgrading and completion to create smooth traffic conditions; the public transport system continues to develop, shortening travel time, creating convenience for people and tourists when visiting and relaxing in Lam Dong.
The new Lam Dong is not only famous for its beautiful natural landscapes but also has a diverse climate, creating favorable conditions for tourism development. Dak Nong is famous for Ta Dung National Park, known as "Ha Long Bay in the Central Highlands", along with the mysterious Nam Kar volcano range. Majestic waterfalls such as Lieng Nung and Trinh Nu are also must-see destinations, offering visitors wonderful experiences amidst pristine nature.
Meanwhile, Da Lat is known as the "city of thousands of flowers", "city of love" with a temperate climate, attracting millions of tourists every year with famous attractions such as: Valley of Love, Xuan Huong Lake, Lang Biang Mountain and many other attractive destinations. In particular, Da Lat is also famous for its typical flowers, creating beautiful natural paintings.
At the end of March 2025, Da Lat was honored to receive two prestigious awards: the 2025 Asian Festival Award and the Asian Peak Award, affirming the city's position in the field of tourism and events. Da Lat was also recognized by UNESCO as a Global Creative City in the field of Music, contributing to enhancing the cultural and tourism values of the province. Cultural events, flower festivals, and art activities that take place regularly in Da Lat not only attract tourists but also create a rich cultural exchange space.
In addition, Binh Thuan is also an attractive tourist destination with blue sea, famous landscapes such as Mui Ne National Tourist Area, Phu Quy Island, and historical and cultural relics such as Truong Duc Thanh Relic Site and Po Sah Inư Tower. Beautiful beaches and water sports such as surfing, diving, and fishing have attracted millions of tourists every year.

Green future
According to statistics from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, in 2024, Lam Dong will rank 9th out of 10 provinces and cities with the highest tourism revenue in the country. Binh Thuan also recorded strong growth in the number of visitors and tourism revenue thanks to the special development of the expressway connecting Ho Chi Minh City with the South Central provinces. Dak Nong has not developed as strongly as Lam Dong and Binh Thuan, but also has interesting destinations such as Ta Dung National Park and eco-tourism areas, promising to contribute to the province's tourism development after the merger.
According to the plan, by 2030, Lam Dong will become a "Green Paradise" with the attraction of the top resort - ecological - health care - sports centers in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. In particular, Da Lat and its vicinity will become a high-quality urban area, developing a modern, international-class night-time economy. In addition, Lam Dong focuses on investing in additional tourism product groups: agriculture, rural areas; spiritual culture; urban areas; creativity. Da Lat and its vicinity are planned to become a national and international tourist center. Key tourist areas are expanded and put into operation such as: Tuyen Lam Lake National Tourist Area, Dankia - Suoi Vang National Tourist Area, Prenn Lake Tourist Area, Sa Pung Mountain Tourist Area... Now, with the convergence of 2 new localities after the merger, the new Lam Dong province with the vision of "green paradise" is no longer far away.
With its outstanding potential and advantages, the new Lam Dong province will certainly become a "tourist paradise" with high mountains, large lakes, blue seas and beautiful islands. The combination of majestic nature, diverse culture and rich tourism activities will create wonderful experiences for visitors. The future of the new Lam Dong is not only an attractive tourist destination but also a strongly developing cultural and economic center, contributing to the overall development of the country.
