Lam Dong: Urgent inspection of coastal irrigation works and heavily flooded residential areas

According to a quick report from the People's Committee of Luong Son commune (Lam Dong), on the evening of November 7 and early morning of November 8, there was damage caused by floods in the area. Accordingly, due to the influence of heavy rain, the upstream area of ​​​​Luy river experienced prolonged heavy rain, large amounts of water poured in, at the Luy river hydrological station, the highest flood peak measured at 23:00 was 28.10 m (exceeding alarm level II by 0.6 m), causing floods and inundation of residential areas and crops of people in Luong Son commune.

Initial statistics recorded about 170 flooded houses in the villages: Luong Bac, Luong Tay, Luong Binh, Tan Son,... mainly flooded under 1m. Regarding agricultural area damaged about 200 hectares of crops: corn, vegetables of all kinds, mainly flooded areas along both sides of Luy river. Landslide on a section of traffic route along the inter-district canal, through Luong Son commune.

In Ham Thuan Nam commune, heavy rain isolated 90 households; of which, 50 houses in Lap Vinh village were flooded with a depth of less than 1 meter. About 100 hectares of agricultural land were damaged (dragon fruit and rice along the Phan River). About 50 pigs, 150 chickens and ducks were affected.

According to statistics, 3 fishing boats sank in the province due to the impact of floods. Localities are continuing to count the damage.

Immediately after receiving information about the large amount of water flowing from the upstream, the functional units proactively arranged forces to directly respond to key areas, fully prepared in terms of forces and equipment for response work, evacuation of people and people's property when floods occur; widely informed on loudspeakers and radio stations of the commune with a frequency of 3-5 minutes/time so that people are informed, proactively evacuate property and livestock from the area along the river; advised people not to travel or stay in houses, huts along both sides of rivers and streams, especially in the basins of Luy River, Phan River...
