Lam Dong: Showing gratitude to teachers, building a foundation for sustainable development

Leaders of Nam Thanh commune ( Lam Dong province) met with local teachers of many generations on the occasion of Vietnam Teachers' Day.

The tradition of “respecting teachers” has long been a lasting value of Vietnamese culture. In Nam Thanh commune, this tradition is not only present in words of gratitude on November 20th but is also expressed through concrete actions, through sincere recognition for those who have been committed to the cause of educating people in difficult conditions.

Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Nam Thanh Commune Tran Cao Thuy shared that although the locality has just been formed on the basis of merging 3 previous communes, in the context of the new apparatus still having many things to improve, the education career has still maintained stability and developed positively. The school network has been planned appropriately for each stage; the work of universalizing education and eliminating illiteracy continues to be maintained; facilities have been gradually improved. The quality of education has been increasingly improved, excellent students at all levels have been maintained; the teaching staff has constantly developed in both quantity and professional level. Among them, there are teachers who have been proposed for State-level awards - a great pride of the locality.

The Party Secretary of the commune emphasized: "These results are achieved first of all thanks to the dedication and silent commitment of the teaching staff. Many teachers have gone through a period of teaching in poor conditions: lack of classrooms, lack of teaching materials, lack of human resources. However, they still stick to the school, stick to the class, constantly sow knowledge, sow personality, sow dreams for many generations of students. Those are immeasurable contributions, creating the identity and foundation of Nam Thanh education today."

The stories shared at the meeting showed that teaching has never been a profession that only requires knowledge; it is a profession of the heart, of perseverance and responsibility. Many teachers, even though retired, still follow the development of education in their hometown as if they were their own spiritual children. They are happy to see the schools becoming more spacious; proud when their students succeed; and happy to see the next generation continue to carry on the values they have devoted their whole lives to.

The leaders of Nam Thanh commune also acknowledged the community's support in developing education. The local enterprise's support of 7,500 notebooks for students not only has material significance, but also demonstrates a sense of social responsibility, spreading the belief that "education is a story of the whole community". In the context of building advanced new rural areas, such contributions will create conditions for each school to truly become a place to nurture knowledge and personality for the young generation.

The significance of the meeting is not only in gratitude. It is also an opportunity for educators of all ages to look back on the past, for the younger generation of teachers to better understand the values of the industry, and for local leaders to listen to their heartfelt suggestions for the development of education in their commune. According to the Party Secretary of the commune, entering a new development phase with a two-level government model, Nam Thanh identified education as one of the important pillars to create quality human resources for the future. They are the ones who understand best the educational path the commune has taken and what needs to be done to move forward more firmly.
