Lam Dong: Building records and boundaries to protect the scenic relic of Xuan Huong Lake

Although recognized as a national scenic relic since 1988, the protection boundary of Xuan Huong Lake (Lam Dong province) has not been unified, making management difficult.

On October 13, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee announced that it had assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province to coordinate with departments, branches and two wards of Xuan Huong - Da Lat, Lam Vien - Da Lat to complete the scientific dossier of the scenic relic of Xuan Huong Lake.

The Xuan Huong Lake scenic relic was ranked as a national scenic relic by the Ministry of Culture (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in 1988. However, due to the inconsistent scientific records of the Xuan Huong Lake scenic relic and the decision on determining the boundary of the protection zone I and protection zone II (signed by the People's Committee of Lam Dong province in 1997), it has caused difficulties in management.

By September 2023, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism had a document agreeing with the proposal of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee to revise and complete the scientific dossier to protect and promote the values ​​of this scenic relic. However, to date, the dossier has not been completed.
