However, along with the benefits, artists also need to be responsible and establish their own principles when accepting advertising offers for a product or service. This not only helps them avoid advertising low-quality products or those that violate the law, such as gambling.

In his clarification, Chau Khai Phong stated: "As an artist, I've always been very meticulous; when accepting advertising contracts, I always review the content beforehand to see if my story will negatively impact those around me, or if it's wholesome." The singer also admitted this was his mistake and affirmed that he will be more careful in his work to avoid similar controversies.

Speaking to Thanh Nien newspaper , Lieutenant Colonel Do Minh Kim, Deputy Head of Department 3, Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention and Control Bureau ( Ministry of Public Security ), said that online gambling and betting are illegal activities, yet they are being advertised rampantly and openly on social media. According to Mr. Kim, these advertisements aim to entice people to gamble online, posing a risk of illegal activities and affecting public security and order.

According to the law, illegal football betting is strictly prohibited in all forms, and advertising is also prohibited under Clause 1, Article 7 of the Advertising Law. Lieutenant Colonel Do Minh Kim analyzed that the aforementioned illegal online advertising still occurs partly due to a lack of management and supervision by functional agencies; this leads to the appearance of many videos and images advertising illegal activities, typically gambling and football betting. Furthermore, posting such illegal advertising content risks being exploited for propaganda and subversive activities against the Party and the State. Therefore, Lieutenant Colonel Kim believes that celebrities, artists, or anyone else should research the product before accepting an advertisement, because a lack of understanding can lead to unforeseen consequences.

Regarding the cases of Chau Khai Phong and Khanh Phuong, netizens have raised the issue of the need for strong and decisive action if one is targeted by malicious individuals who manipulate videos for personal gain. This action significantly impacts the reputation and honor of the artist, as evidenced by the strong backlash they have received from social media users. So, what can be done to protect oneself if images are manipulated for profit?

According to lawyer Nguyen Dang Tu (Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association), artists are famous and influential people. Therefore, when they realize their images have been manipulated, they need to speak out to correct the information on social media and mass media to warn others, and at the same time report the incident to the nearest police station to protect their rights.

Concurring with this view, lawyer Ha Thi Kim Lien (Phan Law Vietnam Law Office) stated that the illegal exploitation, manipulation, and editing of artists' images for advertising illegal activities constitutes a serious violation of individuals' personal rights, specifically the right to image protection as stipulated in Article 32 of the 2015 Civil Code. "This act not only violates legal regulations but also directly affects the honor, reputation, and personal life of artists. Therefore, artists should proactively take strict measures to protect their legitimate rights and interests," lawyer Ha Thi Kim Lien responded.

There's an old saying, "It costs a fortune to buy a good reputation, but only a pittance to sell it." Getting involved in scandals related to gambling advertising can cause artists to lose their audience and face many unforeseen consequences. Therefore, according to lawyer Ha Thi Kim Lien, when artists discover their images have been manipulated for gambling advertising purposes, they should proactively or authorize legal entities to contact the party using their images to request removal, remediation, and compensation for damages.

"If the infringing entity does not take corrective action, the artist has the right to apply technological measures combined with legal measures, such as reporting and removing the infringing clip from social media and websites, filing a complaint with the authorities, or suing in a competent court to demand compensation for damages, force the other party to cease the infringing behavior, and issue a public apology," lawyer Ha Thi Kim Lien further shared.
