Yasushi Inoue (1907 - 1991) took more than 3 decades for his name to be known in Vietnam through two translated works, Guns and Snow Beetles , and this is the first time researcher Nhat Chieu has selected and talked about his literary value through the above two works. The event The Color of Sorrow in Yasushi Inoue's Works - Exchange with writer and researcher Nhat Chieu (organized by Nha Nam Company in coordination with the Japan Cultural Exchange Center) took place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, and was also the occasion for the award ceremony of the Japanese Literature Research Thesis Contest - the 6th Yasushi Inoue Award.
Two works, Shotgun and Snow Beetle , from Yasushi Inoue's massive body of work, are introduced to readers for the first time.
In his writing career, Yasushi Inoue left behind a huge literary legacy, which has been praised as "outstanding". The short novel Shotgun was written in the form of letters, talking about the beauty of mistakes and sealed injustices; and Snowbug was inspired by the writer's own childhood memories. Shotgun and Snowbug are precious gems among these works, because they have completely different writing styles. These two works also have something in common: the color of sadness and loneliness.
In addition to researcher Nhat Chieu, speakers participating in the upcoming exchange session will include Dr. of Literature Nguyen Quyen, Editor-in-Chief of zzz Review magazine, and Dr. of Literature Tran Thi Thuc, lecturer at the Faculty of Literature, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
