For the first time, Vietnam has a female Google Developer Expert in AI creation.

On April 9, a Google representative said that Nguyen Khanh Linh is the first Vietnamese woman to become a Google expert in the Google Developer Expert program in March 2025. She is also the first Google Developer Expert in Machine Learning in the field of generative AI in 2025.

This is not only a personal title, but also a symbol of a long journey of passion, perseverance and positive influence of a Vietnamese woman on the global technology map.

The Google Developer Expert program is home to exceptional developers, experts, and thought leaders who aren't just building products, they're shaping the future with technology.

In the GDE community in Vietnam, there used to be 9 male experts working in different fields, but no female representative. Khanh Linh's selection not only recognized her professional capacity but also marked a significant change in promoting diversity and gender representation in the high-tech industry.

Khanh Linh is no stranger to the AI community in Southeast Asia. With over 13 years of experience in research and application in the fields of Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Learning and Data Science , she is the Head of AI at Obello - an AI-powered graphic design platform based in San Francisco, USA. Here, she is in charge of developing generative AI systems to automate the design creation process, both improving productivity and ensuring aesthetics and branding.

But Khanh Linh’s legacy extends beyond her professional work. She is a scientist with a strong academic background, having earned a Master’s degree in Knowledge Engineering/AI from the National University of Singapore and is the author of several highly regarded papers in the research community, including a novel conversational assessment method for knowledge-based systems and an extensive survey of empathetic conversational systems.

Beautiful Mind Vietnam is a platform founded by Khanh Linh, a non-profit organization for mental health, where she applies AI to improve operations and expand access, thereby supporting thousands of people. Her story shows that AI is not just a technical tool, but can be an extension of compassion and social responsibility.

As a regular speaker at major technology events such as Google I/O Extended Hanoi , DevFest, or the 'LLMs and GenAI for Enterprises' forum, Khanh Linh has inspired more than 5,000 developers in Southeast Asia. It is no coincidence that she was honored by LinkedIn as a 'Top Voice' in the AI field in 2024.

Sharing about this journey, Khanh Linh said: “I have a deep passion for technology, especially AI, and I believe that I can make a positive contribution to society through responsible technological advancements. My goal is to help develop and deploy AI systems that are not only innovative, but also ethical, safe, and useful for everyone.

I believe that the Google Developer Expert (GDE) program will provide the necessary foundation to help me achieve this goal and further fuel my passion in the field of AI.
