Spreading the works of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong

At the seminar, the guests were Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Viet Thong, former Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, former General Secretary of the Central Theoretical Council; Ms. Pham Phuong Thao, former Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, former Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council; Associate Professor Dr. Vu Tinh, former Vice President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM; Associate Professor Dr. Ha Minh Hong, former Head of the History Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM discussed how to improve the effectiveness of both theory and practice in the current work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity.

Speaking at the program, Director of the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Lam Dinh Thang emphasized the special importance in both theory and practice, expressing the consistent, steadfast ideology and at the same time the creative development, contributing to perfecting the Party's theoretical thinking on the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity in the book of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. The theoretical and practical values that the book has brought are the sharp "weapons" contributing to protecting the Party's ideological foundation, fighting against the false arguments of hostile and reactionary forces on the work of preventing and combating corruption of our Party and State. The book is considered by many people as a "handbook" for the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity in our country. According to Mr. Lam Dinh Thang, through the seminar, he hopes to convey the values in the General Secretary's work to Central leaders, former leaders of the City, publishing units, lecturers, historical researchers, Party committees at grassroots levels... thereby strongly spreading the movement against negativity and corruption among cadres, party members and people of Ho Chi Minh City.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Viet Thong, the work of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has very new theoretical issues, from identifying corruption, risks to the scope of the fight against corruption and guiding principles. In particular, regarding the identification of corruption, the General Secretary said that in addition to economic corruption, there is also corruption in policies and laws; corruption in policies and laws is more dangerous than economic corruption. Negativity is understood in a narrow sense, associated with corruption, which is the degradation of political ideology and lifestyle ethics. At the same time, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also pointed out the dialectical relationship between corruption and negativity. Regarding the scope of the fight, not only the fight against corruption in the public sector but also the expansion of the fight in the private sector - outside the state. Accordingly, Associate Professor Dr. Ha Minh Hong emphasized the motto of preventing and fighting corruption, which is summarized with "4 No's" - do not want to be corrupt, cannot be corrupt, do not dare to be corrupt and do not need to be corrupt. The General Secretary also proposed two principles for handling party members who violate corruption and negativity: "5K" - no forbidden zones, no exceptions, no rest, no stop, no impact; and also proposed the "3 people" principle - humanity, compassion, and humaneness.

The work also has important theoretical and practical value, truly and deeply reflecting the General Secretary's progressive, consistent and thorough thoughts on Party building and rectification, training the ethics and lifestyle of cadres and Party members and the fight against negativity and corruption. Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Tinh affirmed that the book is presented in a modern journalistic style, the structure is divided into 3 parts with the content of the book demonstrating the vision, clear intelligence, close, drastic and comprehensive guidance full of persuasion of the General Secretary. This contributes to clarifying the Party's theoretical thinking on the work of preventing and combating corruption, negativity and Party building and rectification, and the content of the book also affirms the great role of the people.

Through the seminar, guest speakers and delegates heard a number of warning and reminder solutions for each cadre, party member, party committee, agency and unit to proactively identify and fight against corruption, negativity and the work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system. Accordingly, comrade Nguyen Thi Kim Dung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, in charge of the Party Committee of the People - Government - Party Bloc of Ho Chi Minh City, requested units to step up propaganda and research on the theoretical value and practical significance of the work, affirming that preventing and combating corruption and negativity is "a necessary and inevitable task, an irreversible trend". Along with that, strengthen the inspection and supervision work in the implementation of resolutions, directives, regulations of the Party, policies and laws of the State on preventing and combating corruption, practicing thrift, and combating waste to proactively prevent corruption, prevent degradation in political ideology, ethics and lifestyle among cadres and party members.
