- For the first time, the International Yoga Festival and Indian Cultural Exchange (abbreviated as the Festival) will take place on May 30 and 31, 2025 in Lang Son city. At this time, the exciting atmosphere awaiting the event has spread widely throughout the yoga community in the province. A dynamic, integrated, and deeply culturally rich Lang Son is ready to welcome international friends with the spirit of solidarity and the attraction of yoga.

The festival is directed by the Provincial People's Committee with the theme "Yoga - Connecting culture, strengthening friendship". Within the framework of the festival, there will be many activities to strengthen friendship, cooperative relationships for mutual development, connect culture, promote the image, land, people, potential strengths, and international cooperation needs of Lang Son province with the Embassy of India in Vietnam as well as localities of India.
Hurry up to prepare
Based on the Official Note No. NV/257/SVCC/2025 dated March 3, 2025 of the Embassy of India requesting Lang Son province to coordinate in organizing the International Yoga Day (IDY) Celebration Program, on April 29, the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 126 on organizing the International Yoga Day and Indian Cultural Exchange in Lang Son in 2025.
Then, on May 18, the Provincial People's Committee issued a decision to establish and assign tasks to the Organizing Committee and the subcommittees to assist the Organizing Committee of the Festival. The Organizing Committee consists of 15 members; 3 subcommittees: content - propaganda; reception - logistics; security, security - health. Each member of the Organizing Committee as well as the subcommittees are assigned specific tasks to ensure that the preparation work is carried out effectively and with quality.
Mr. Nguyen Dang An, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DTC), Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Festival said: Identifying this as a cultural event of foreign affairs of important significance, with the responsibility of the standing agency advising the province, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has proactively coordinated and discussed with the Embassy of India in Vietnam and relevant agencies in advising and organizing the Festival; at the same time, issued a separate plan in the industry to deploy and prepare the contents and conditions for organizing the activities in the program to ensure timeliness and progress.
Accordingly, the Department's professional department coordinated to develop a specific script for the welcome program, art associated with Yoga and Yoga performance, and designed the stage for the opening ceremony. At the same time, coordinated with the Indian Cultural Center in Hanoi to invite Indian artists, businesses, and Indian artisans to participate in activities within the framework of the Festival.
In particular, during the two official days of the event, the highlight will be the opening ceremony of the Festival taking place at 7:00 a.m. on May 31. The grand opening ceremony with an art program themed "Yoga - Aspiration to Reach Far" includes 3 chapters: Yoga shines for a peaceful and prosperous world (chapter I); Vietnam - India friendship is forever sustainable (chapter II); Yoga is the essence of heaven and earth for human life (chapter III).
The festival is expected to have over 20 Indian delegates, artists and businessmen participating in activities such as: performing arts; henna painting, handicrafts, fabrics; cuisine; display of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products; spiritual products, tourism, etc.
Along with the above activities, within the framework of the event, there are also activities related to culture, sports and tourism such as: conference to promote Lang Son - India tourism, Vietnam - India cultural exhibition space; "Shining Yoga" contest; Indian film week in Lang Son... In recent days, the units: Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion; Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Department of Foreign Affairs... have urgently coordinated, developed implementation plans, selected suitable locations to organize activities.
In addition, the tasks related to propaganda, reception, logistics, security, order, health, hygiene and safety... at the activities within the framework of the event have also been developed by relevant departments, branches and units, arranged human resources, materials, and implemented according to plan.
Mr. Phan Lac Hoai Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Health, said: Immediately after being assigned specific tasks, the Department of Health deployed a plan to ensure health during the festival activities, at the same time, arranged medical staff and prepared medicine reserves, and ambulances on standby for emergency services to serve the opening ceremony and activities within the framework of the festival. At the same time, a plan was developed to ensure food safety and hygiene at the province's reception and the accommodation arrangements for invited delegates and delegations attending the festival.
Ready to welcome
On May 26, the first activity within the framework of the event was the experience and demonstration of yoga, which was successfully carried out by local yoga clubs at a number of tourist destinations in Lang Son city. The activity attracted the attention of local people and tourists, thereby introducing the upcoming International Yoga Day event and contributing to promoting tourist destinations.
Notably, the art program at the opening ceremony featured yoga instructors from India, Vietnamese-Indian artists performing, and a yoga performance with the participation of more than 300 people from yoga clubs in and outside the province. Therefore, up to this point, artists, actors, and club members participating in the performance have been practicing in the stage area where the opening ceremony will take place to master the art performances and perform yoga postures under the guidance of the instructors.
Ms. Be Kim Thuy, Vinh Trai ward, Lang Son city said: I have been practicing Yoga for the past 6 years. After knowing that the International Yoga Festival will be held in Lang Son and that I was chosen as one of more than 300 people to participate in the yoga performance at the opening ceremony, I was extremely excited and elated. In the past few days, despite the rainy weather and low temperatures, everyone and I have actively participated in practicing with the hope of bringing an impressive and beautiful performance, contributing to the success of the festival.
Up to this point, along with the contents of the opening ceremony, the activities within the framework of the festival have completed the organization and are ready to welcome the Indian delegation as well as tourists to Lang Son to attend the festival.

With careful preparation, smooth coordination between agencies and units, enthusiastic support from the yoga community in the province and the spirit of connection and integration, we believe that the International Yoga Festival and Indian Cultural Exchange in Lang Son in 2025 will be successfully organized, promising to leave a good impression in the hearts of international friends. This is also the premise for the province to gradually build the event into a tourism product to connect, promote tourism, expand exchanges and attract tourists to Lang Son province, especially international visitors from India.
