Prevention of parasitic diseases

Doctor Le Quang Hieu, Head of the Microbiology Department, Thong Nhat General Hospital, said that in the past year, the hospital has examined and treated nearly 3,500 patients with diseases related to parasites.

Recently, the hospital received and treated a patient with NTM (69 years old, residing in Trang Dai ward, Bien Hoa city). The X-ray results showed that there were many images of rice-shaped cysts scattered in the tissues of the patient's body, suspected to be caused by parasites. This is the first case of cysts throughout the body recorded at Thong Nhat General Hospital.

According to Dr. Hieu, whole-body cysts are quite dangerous. When the segments fall out with the feces, they are a dangerous source of infection and can spread parasitic diseases to the community if not treated properly.

To prevent parasitic infections, Dr. Hieu recommends that people should eat cooked food and drink boiled water; should not eat raw vegetables, pork, pig liver, buffalo, or uncooked beef, especially blood pudding and fermented pork rolls.

At the same time, keep your living space clean and airy; deworm every 6 months; have regular health check-ups to detect and promptly treat dangerous diseases if any.

Peace
