This launching ceremony marks the start of a series of activities and communication campaigns on gender equality held from November 15 to December 15 every year nationwide. The theme of this year’s Action Month is: “Gender equality and safety for women and girls in the digital age”.
In recent times, implementing the consistent and continuous policy of the Party and State on ensuring substantive equality between men and women, gender equality work in Lang Son province has always received attention and focus from the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province.
Lang Son province has focused on leading and directing synchronous mechanisms and policies, including: paying attention to perfecting the Committee for the Advancement of Women at all levels; implementing the task of improving gender knowledge, promoting gender equality work; incorporating gender equality content into the development and implementation of socio-economic development programs and plans; creating conditions for women to strive, contribute, mature, promote their roles, and perform well the work of female cadres...

Many women in Lang Son province have strived to become key leaders of the province, sectors, communes and wards; the proportion of women participating in Party committees, female leaders in Party agencies, government, Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, female National Assembly deputies and People's Councils at all levels is increasing.
Currently, the proportion of women participating in the Lang Son Provincial Party Executive Committee is 11/52 comrades (accounting for 21.15%); the proportion of women in the Provincial Party Standing Committee is 3/14 comrades (accounting for 21.4%); among the 3 Deputy Secretaries of the Provincial Party Committee, there are 2 women.
In addition, the proportion of women holding leadership positions in governments at all levels continues to be consolidated, with female cadres holding leadership positions in People's Committees at all levels reaching 48/199 comrades, accounting for 24.1%; female leaders and managers at department, branch, and equivalent levels reaching 16/76 comrades (21%); the proportion of female Department Heads and Deputy Department Heads at the provincial level reaching 201/534 comrades, equivalent to 37.6%.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Tran Thanh Nhan, Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee, pointed out that besides the achieved results, the province's work on women and gender equality still has many issues that need attention.

Gender stereotypes still exist in society, considering housework as women's work; there is still gender-based violence in some families, with women being the main victims.
Although the proportion of female leaders and managers in provincial agencies and units has reached the general rate, it is unevenly distributed among agencies and units. Many agencies do not have female leaders.
Women in ethnic minority areas, remote and isolated areas still face many disadvantages and difficulties in life and in participating in the political system; coordination between sectors and levels in implementing the National Strategy and Program on Gender Equality is not uniform; most of the staff working on gender equality have concurrent positions... This is a significant challenge in the process of implementing state management work.

The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Lang Son province requested that departments, branches, socio-political organizations, and People's Committees of communes and wards focus on thoroughly grasping and effectively implementing the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws on gender equality.
He hopes that every woman and girl in Lang Son province needs to strive in studying and working to affirm and enhance their role and position in society, along with that, acquire knowledge and skills to protect themselves and bravely and strongly speak up when they are discriminated against or subjected to violence.
On this occasion, leaders of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee presented 15 gifts to people in difficult circumstances in the area.

Immediately after the ceremony, the forces organized a march in response to the launching ceremony of the Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence on many streets in Luong Van Tri Ward, Lang Son Province.
