Lai Chau increases poverty reduction efficiency through agricultural models

Lai Chau promotes sustainable poverty reduction through developing crop and livestock farming models, supporting production, helping people increase income and stabilize their livelihoods.

Vice Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee Giang A Tinh said: In recent times, Lai Chau province has promoted sustainable poverty reduction solutions through developing diverse livelihood models, associated with the strengths of agricultural production in each locality.

In the 2021-2024 period, from the central budget of more than 134 billion VND, Lai Chau province has deployed 133 poverty reduction models, including 80 crop models, 35 livestock models and 18 production machinery support models, attracting 3,500 poor and near-poor households to participate. These models have initially shown effectiveness, helping many households increase their income, change their production mindset and be more proactive in economic development.

As of the reporting date, Lai Chau province has disbursed more than VND82.2 billion, reaching 61.1% of the plan. By 2025, Lai Chau plans to deploy 40 poverty reduction models (including 15 crop models and 25 livestock models), with a total budget of VND60.9 billion.

In parallel, Lai Chau province also focuses on supporting production development and improving nutrition through 52 agricultural support projects, including 22 crop projects, 11 livestock projects and 19 production machinery support projects, attracting 2,150 households to participate. To date, Lai Chau province has disbursed 28.9 billion VND, reaching 44.8% of the plan.

In 2025, Lai Chau province aims to implement 34 production support projects, including 14 crop projects and 20 livestock projects, with a total budget of VND 25.1 billion. The projects will be oriented to expand their scale, strengthen linkages, and focus on developing key agricultural products associated with value chains, thereby creating sustainable livelihoods and contributing to effectively implementing the province's poverty reduction goals.
