The Central Inter-sectoral Steering Committee on Food Safety has just announced the Plan to implement the Food Safety Action Month in 2025 with the theme "Ensuring food safety, focusing on food safety in collective kitchens, catering services and street food".
Accordingly, based on the theme of Food Safety Action Month 2025, the Central Interdisciplinary Steering Committee on Food Safety assigned the Ministries of Health, Agriculture and Environment, and Industry and Trade to coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to organize 5 interdisciplinary inspection teams to conduct inspections in 10 provinces and cities from April 15 to May 15 nationwide.
These provinces and cities include: Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Phuoc, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hanoi, Bac Giang, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Dien Bien and Lai Chau.
Specifically: Team No. 1, chaired by the Department of Food Safety, Ministry of Health, coordinated with the Department of Environmental Crime Prevention Police (Ministry of Public Security), 1 unit under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, 1 unit under the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Testing Institute under the Ministry of Health to conduct inspections in Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Phuoc province.
Team No. 2, chaired by the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, coordinated with the Department of Environmental Crime Prevention Police (Ministry of Public Security), 1 unit under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, 1 unit under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and a testing unit under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to conduct inspections in the two provinces/cities of Quang Binh and Quang Tri.
Team No. 3, chaired by the Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, coordinated with 1 unit under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Department of Environmental Crime Prevention and Control (Ministry of Public Security), 1 unit under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, 1 testing unit under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to conduct inspections in 2 provinces/cities: Hanoi and Bac Giang.
Team No. 4, chaired by a unit under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, coordinated with a unit under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the Department of Environmental Crime Prevention and Control (Ministry of Public Security), a unit under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and a testing unit under the Ministry of Industry and Trade to conduct inspections in two provinces: Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan.
Team No. 5, chaired by a unit under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, coordinated with a unit under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, a unit under the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Department of Environmental Crime Prevention and Control (Ministry of Public Security), and a testing unit under the Ministry of Industry and Trade to conduct inspections in 2 provinces/cities: Dien Bien and Lai Chau.
The Ministries of Industry and Trade and Science and Technology propose the leading and coordinating units for implementation.
In addition to the 5 Central Interdisciplinary Delegations, the Ministries of Health, Agriculture and Environment, and Industry and Trade assigned functional units to conduct surprise inspections in provinces and cities to effectively implement the Action Month.
At the local level, based on the Central Action Month Implementation Plan 2025, the Provincial and Municipal Interdisciplinary Steering Committees on Food Safety advise on developing an inspection plan in the area (including city/town/district/county and town/commune/ward levels) to submit to the Provincial and Municipal People's Committees for approval and implementation; ensuring the completion of the inspection plan before May 15, 2025.
The Ministry of Health - the standing agency of the Central Inter-sectoral Steering Committee on Food Safety, said that the organization of the Food Safety Action Month 2025 aims to promote propaganda, education, raise awareness, identify responsibilities and actions of Party committees at all levels, Party organizations, cadres, Party members and people in ensuring food security and safety.
In addition, promote the role and responsibility of organizations, individuals and businesses in enforcing food safety laws; promptly inform about safe, high-quality agricultural and food value chains, violating establishments, and potential risks of food insecurity and safety.
Strengthen inspection, examination and supervision of food security and safety; resolutely combat, prevent and strictly handle organizations, individuals, production and business establishments that violate food safety regulations, especially food service establishments, collective kitchens and street food; Promote the role of authorities at all levels, management agencies, social organizations and consumer supervision in compliance with food safety laws for individuals and food production and business establishments.
Improve capacity to prevent and proactively handle food poisoning and food-borne diseases at establishments with collective kitchens, food service businesses, and street food; minimize poisoning due to consumption of unsafe food.
