Recently, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency issued an arrest warrant for Huynh Xuan Van (34 years old, from Ben Tre province, residing in Binh Chanh district) for the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".
It is known that Van is the Deputy Director of K Supper Co., Ltd. (K Supper Showroom, headquartered in District 1), which specializes in selling supercars in Vietnam. This company is managed by Phan Cong Khanh (alias Khanh Super, 30 years old, from Ben Tre, residing in District 7), who was prosecuted and temporarily detained by the Ho Chi Minh City Police at the end of July 2023 for the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".
The police also charged Mohamach Da Pha (27 years old, residing in Chau Thanh district, An Giang province, a collaborator of Showroom K Supper) with "Abuse of trust to appropriate property".
Ho Chi Minh City police have uncovered a case in which Huynh Xuan Van and Phan Cong Khanh defrauded people by selling luxury cars for 24.5 billion VND.
Specifically, through social media, in October 2021, businessman LHP (32 years old, residing in Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang province) learned about and contacted Phan Cong Khanh to purchase a McLaren supercar for 30 billion VND. In January 2022, Mr. P. continued to buy a Mercedes G800 Brabus supercar from Phan Cong Khanh for 24 billion VND.
Both of these supercars are registered under the name of Mr. LHP.
On June 3, 2023, Phan Cong Khanh contacted Mr. LHP to borrow two supercars for display at the grand opening of the K Super Showroom (at 6 Tran Hung Dao Street, Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1) from June 6 to June 8, 2023. Mr. P. agreed and left the original vehicle registration papers and inspection certificates inside the cars when lending them.
When the loan period expired, Mr. P. contacted Phan Cong Khanh, who returned the McLaren supercar, but did not return the G800 Brabus.
When Phan Cong Khanh was arrested, Mr. P. learned that Khanh and Huynh Xuan Van had sold his G800 Brabus supercar to someone else. Therefore, Mr. P. filed a complaint against the two men with the Criminal Police Department.
Investigations revealed that in 2019, Khanh and Van pooled their capital, each contributing 50%, to establish K-Supper Trading and Service Company Limited. Khanh served as the director, while Van was the deputy director.
Both of them created a facade of being well-known, wealthy individuals. Specifically, Khanh often appeared on social media with images of supercars worth tens of billions of dong, rare in Vietnam, and had connections with the rich and celebrities in the country. Khanh was known as the number one supercar collector and dealer in Vietnam and owned K Super, a supercar showroom that was also the number one in Vietnam for a period.
Huynh Xuan Van, the Deputy Director of K Super, also demonstrates his status as a renowned supercar enthusiast and a tycoon in the real estate sector.
In fact, the supercars that Khanh and Van used for transportation and displayed in their showroom were actually borrowed from various other people.
Regarding the aforementioned G800 Brabus supercar owned by a wealthy businessman from Phu Quoc, the police have determined that on June 10, 2023, Khanh and Huynh Xuan Van sold it to Mr. THP (41 years old, residing in Binh Thanh District) for 24.5 billion VND.
During the transaction, Van told Mr. THP that this was a purchased vehicle, owned by Van, and that the paperwork would be completed immediately after the sale. Van signed a vehicle purchase and sale contract, which was not notarized, and agreed to pay in three installments.
Mr. THP paid 16.8 billion VND, with the remaining 7.7 billion VND to be paid by July 5, 2023, upon completion of the transfer of ownership procedures. However, on the agreed date, Mr. THP was unable to contact Van, who had absconded. Subsequently, the case of Phan Cong Khanh and his accomplices' fraudulent sale of luxury cars came to light.
The Forensic Science Institute in Ho Chi Minh City – Ministry of Public Security has concluded that the signatures of Huynh Xuan Van in the sales contract and other documents, when compared with the samples, were signed by the same person.
Regarding Phan Cong Khanh's actions, the investigative agency has now clarified that this suspect, along with several accomplices, defrauded many people through the buying and selling of luxury cars.
During the investigation, Phan Cong Khanh confessed that he had frequently traveled to Cambodia to gamble. As a result, he lost a large sum of money gambling, leading to bankruptcy and borrowing from various sources.
Recently, several creditors have been coming to the K Supper Showroom and even to Khanh's home to demand payment. To get money to manage the debts, Khanh has been pawning or selling customers' cars that were consigned to the showroom.
A typical case that led to Khanh Super's arrest was pawning a McLaren car with license plate 51F – 821xx, worth 10 billion VND, belonging to Ms. LNTH (residing in Thu Duc district).
Ms. H. parked her car at the K Supper Showroom (No. 6 Tran Hung Dao Street, District 1) for Khanh to sell on her behalf. In late May, Khanh tricked her into giving him the original car documents, which he then gave to Mohamach Da Pha to pawn to someone else for 2 billion VND.
In addition, some people reported being defrauded by Phan Cong Khanh through the purchase of flowers to give to customers who transacted car sales at the showroom; money for building and repairing the showroom… and many other allegations.
