Ceremony to receive the Government's Emulation Flag and commend the elderly for their good economic performance, period 2018 - 2023

On the morning of August 15, the Provincial Association of the Elderly (NCT) held a ceremony to receive the Government's Emulation Flag and commend the elderly for their good economic performance in the period of 2018 - 2023; launching the Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam in 2023.

Attending the event were comrades: Truong Xuan Cu, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Elderly Association; Trinh Truong Huy, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Elderly Affairs Committee.

Over the years, the Provincial Association of the Elderly at all levels has closely followed the direction of the Central Association, Party committees and authorities at all levels. Every year, the emulation movement "Old age - Bright example" in general, and the economic sector in particular of the elderly in the province, has been launched and widely implemented with realistic contents and targets, meeting the requirements and political tasks of the locality and grassroots, and has achieved many results.

Through the activities and emulation movements of the Association, there are tens of thousands of elderly members enthusiastically working in production, business, and services, actively developing the family economy in many diverse and rich forms. The whole province has over 35,000 members and elderly people directly participating in production, business, and services, of which nearly 1,500 elderly people are good at doing business. Currently, the whole province has 66,000 elderly people, of which 428 elderly people are good at doing business at all levels (4 at the central level, 32 at the provincial level, 65 at the district level, and 328 at the grassroots level).

From the practical activities in the movement "Old age - Bright example" of the elderly in the province, especially in the field of good economic performance, many outstanding examples have emerged that have been recognized by Party committees and local authorities and respected by all classes of people. In the emulation movement, the whole province has hundreds of elderly members who have been awarded certificates of merit at all levels. In recognition of the efforts and endeavors of the Provincial Elderly Association at all levels, the Government awarded the Emulation Flag to the Provincial Elderly Association Representative Board for excellently completing its tasks and leading the emulation movement in 2022, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Elderly Association awarded the "For the cause of caring for and promoting the role of the elderly" Medal to 5 comrades.

Continuing to promote the "Old Age - Bright Example" movement of the elderly in the province, especially in the field of good economic performance and responding to the Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam in 2023, the Provincial Elderly Association continues to advise the Party Committee and the government to pay more attention to leading and directing the Elderly Association at all levels to promote the emulation movement "Old Age - Bright Example" in all fields, especially in the field of emulation of good economic performance to eliminate poverty, enrich families and society, contribute to economic development in localities and establishments, maintain political stability, social order and safety.

Authorized by the Government, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Trinh Truong Huy awarded the Government's Emulation Flag to the Representative Board of the Provincial Association of the Elderly.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Trinh Truong Huy requested all levels, sectors, localities, the Provincial Elderly Association Representative Board, and the Elderly Association at all levels to strengthen propaganda and education to raise awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors, and localities in the province in the work of the elderly and issues related to the elderly. Effectively implement the Provincial Elderly Health Care Program for the period 2021 - 2030. Continue to build and concretize the content of the emulation movement "Old age - bright example", unite to promote, participate in production and business, step by step strive to become rich legitimately, contributing to the sustainable development of the province.

Leaders of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly presented prayers to support the construction of "Great Solidarity" houses and gifts to the elderly in difficult circumstances in the province.

On behalf of the Provincial Elderly Working Committee, he launched the Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam in 2023 with the theme "Elderly people are promoted and fully cared for", from September 1 to October 31, 2023.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 20 elderly people, the Provincial Elderly Association's Representative Board awarded certificates of merit to 22 outstanding elderly people with good economic performance in the period of 2018 - 2023; commended and rewarded 4 outstanding elderly people with good economic performance in the period of 2018 - 2023 who were sent to attend the National Conference to commend elderly people with good economic performance. The leaders of the Vietnam Elderly Association awarded funds to support the construction of 9 "Great Solidarity" houses worth 540 million VND, and presented 60 gifts worth 30 million VND to elderly people in difficult circumstances in the province.
