Village festival with over 500 years of history in the center of Da Nang city

On April 3 and 4, Hai Chau District (Da Nang City) organized the Hai Chau Communal House Festival in 2025. This is an important cultural event in the spiritual life of people in the central area of Da Nang City, aiming to preserve generations' traditions, meet the spiritual needs of the community, and contribute to promoting tourism .

The vigil ceremony was held on the afternoon of April 3, and the main ceremony took place on the morning of April 4. The wards offered traditional cakes, five fruits, flower baskets, and betel and areca nuts to express their gratitude and respect to the ancestors who founded the village and the generations of fathers who built and protected the land.

The festival includes a performance of Ao Dai for kindergartens organized by the Department of Education and Training of Hai Chau District.

Hai Chau District Youth Union organized floating lanterns and cultural activities. At the village temple, there were also food stalls and products of women entrepreneurs. The district Cultural and Sports Center organized a singing contest about Hai Chau songs.

Mr. Ho Thuyen, Chairman of Hai Chau District People's Committee, said that with its long history and valuable cultural values, Hai Chau communal house is one of the unique relics of Da Nang City, a place to return to one's roots and ancient values, recognized as a national historical and cultural relic in 2001.

Hai Chau communal house not only carries the traditional value of remembering the source of water when drinking but also marks the strong belief of ancestor worship and Mother Goddess worship of the Vietnamese people, and is a space for traditional cultural and religious activities of the villagers.

According to the Nguyen Van family genealogy, the ancestors who opened Hai Chau village originated from Hai Chau village of Thanh Hoa province, following King Le Thanh Tong to open up the land at the end of the 15th century.
