"Classy and professional"
The KPNest Chess Tournament, organized for the first time by KPNest Bird's Nest Development Joint Stock Company in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Chess Federation, has generated significant interest. The registration deadline was November 20th, but as of today, approximately 300 players have already registered to compete. Notably, the tournament features a full complement of top Vietnamese chess players such as Le Quang Liem, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son, Le Tuan Minh, Nguyen Huynh Minh Huy (men), Pham Le Thao Nguyen, Vo Thi Kim Phung, Luong Phuong Hanh, Nguyen Thi Thanh An, and Nguyen Thi Mai Hung (women).
Vietnam's number one chess player, Le Quang Liem, is admired by many young chess players.
Grandmaster Le Quang Liem, currently ranked 15th in the world and the 2013 World Blitz Chess Champion, is attracting particular attention as he returns to domestic competition for the first time after 10 years of living and studying in the US and primarily competing in international tournaments. "Although this is the first time the KPNest Chess Tournament has been organized, after discussing with the organizing committee, I was impressed by the enthusiasm of the sponsor KPNest and felt confident in the meticulous organization of the Ho Chi Minh City Chess Federation. I accepted the invitation to participate in the KPNest Chess Tournament because I want to contribute a small part to the development of chess in Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general. This tournament is not just an ordinary blitz chess tournament, but truly a national chess festival where young children have the opportunity to compete and win prizes like professional athletes. I am very much looking forward to returning to Vietnam in December to compete because I know the tournament will be organized on a truly high-class and professional scale," Le Quang Liem shared.
The success of Vietnam's number one chess player, Le Quang Liem, in both academics and chess is an example for many young children to follow.
Inspiring the younger generation.
When planning the KPNest Chess Tournament, businesswoman Phan Thi Thanh Truyen – General Director of KPNest Bird's Nest Development Joint Stock Company – immediately thought of inviting the legendary chess champion Le Quang Liem to participate. "For Vietnamese chess, Le Quang Liem is a symbol of success, excelling both academically and as a chess player. Thanks to chess, Le Quang Liem received a scholarship to study in the US, graduated with honors with two degrees, and was retained by Webster University as the head coach of the national chess team and Director of the SPICE Chess Academy. I know Le Quang Liem is an idol for many young chess players in Vietnam, so together with the organizing committee, we invited him to participate in the tournament, to interact with and inspire the younger generation, hoping that we will have more talents following in the footsteps of our前辈 Le Quang Liem," Ms. Phan Thi Thanh Truyen revealed.
The KPNest Chess Tournament promises to attract a large number of athletes to compete.
Vietnam's number one chess player, Le Quang Liem, shared this message with young chess players: "When I first started playing chess, I never imagined I would one day study abroad, experience life overseas, and have a long-term job that suits my passion and interests. Looking back now, it's not an exaggeration to say that chess has given me so many things I never expected. Therefore, I hope that young chess enthusiasts will always be persistent and strive to improve themselves. I'm sure that chess will be the key to unlocking many doors of opportunity leading to success in their careers and lives."
