Vardy leaves Leicester.

After a disappointing 2024/25 season and finishing 18th in the Premier League, Leicester City have officially confirmed the departure of 11 players, including former mainstays of the team such as Jamie Vardy, Danny Ward and Daniel Iversen.

Eight other players will also leave, including Oliver Ewing, Harvey Godsmark-Ford, Ben Grist, Deniche Hill, Liam McAlinney, Arjan Raikhy, Joe Wormleighton and Brad Young.

This is considered a mandatory "overhaul" for the King Power team as they prepare for the new campaign in the English First Division (Championship) season 2025/26. Among the players leaving, the most prominent name is none other than Jamie Vardy, the living legend of the "Foxes".

After 13 years at the club, Vardy has officially said goodbye to the club, ending a glorious journey that saw him take Leicester from the lower leagues to the top of the Premier League, culminating in a historic title win in the 2015/16 season. His final game in a Leicester shirt was a 2-0 win over Ipswich Town, where he scored his 200th goal in his 500th appearance for the club.

Speaking after leaving the club, Vardy expressed his emotions: "I never thought I would be this emotional, but after more than a decade of being here, it's hard to say goodbye. I'm proud of every moment I've spent here."

Also leaving the club are goalkeeper Danny Ward, who joined Leicester from Liverpool in 2018 and made 52 appearances, as well as Daniel Iversen, a 27-year-old who was once highly-rated but has only made 17 starts for Leicester. Iversen will officially join Preston North End at the beginning of July.

A statement from the club read: "We would like to sincerely thank all the players for their contributions and wish them every success in their next stages."
