Plan to protect forests in the "fire pan" of Huong Khe

(Baohatinh.vn) - As the area with the hottest climate in the country, forces in Huong Khe (Ha Tinh) are urgently developing plans to prevent "fires" and protect the forest.

Entering the hot season, information and propaganda work is highly focused by forest rangers, forest owners and authorities.

Huong Khe Protective Forest Management Board is assigned to manage and protect 38 sub-areas with more than 31,026 hectares of forest and forestry land, including many areas of forest that are prone to fire such as: sub-areas 245, 257, 258 (in Huong Trach commune), sub-areas 237 (Phuc Trach commune), sub-areas 210, 227 (Loc Yen commune), sub-areas 196 (Huong Giang commune), sub-areas 269 (Huong Lam commune) and some areas near residential areas and other borders.

To proactively prevent and fight forest fires (PCCCR) in the upcoming hot season, Huong Khe Protective Forest Management Board is urgently implementing important tasks with the main focus on prevention, proactively detecting and preventing in a timely manner, ensuring "4 on-site"; unifying command, smooth coordination, complying with procedures when implementing, minimizing forest damage and ensuring absolute safety when fighting fires.

Mr. Hoang Xuan Tai - Deputy of Huong Khe Protective Forest Management Board informed: "To protect the forest (BVR) when the hot season is approaching, we are strengthening information, propaganda, mobilization, signing commitments and establishing 10 BVR - PCCCR shock teams. The unit has also prepared 6 chainsaws, 9 blowers, 55 knives, 4 handheld speakers, 55 flashlights, 55 specialized uniforms and repaired 18 wall signs, 4 forest fire forecast signs, and renewed 50 fire prohibition signs.

The unit has begun implementing a plan to patrol and guard forest fires to prevent fire sources, control heat sources, limit people entering the forest and promptly detect fires. In addition, the unit is also implementing silvicultural technical measures such as treating 12 hectares of vegetation in sub-area 201 of Loc Yen commune and building 3 km of firebreaks in sub-area 237 of Phuc Trach commune.

Determined to effectively prevent the “fire”, Chuc A Forestry and Service Company Limited is also urgently taking action, proactively implementing necessary plans to protect 14,744 hectares of forest and forestry land assigned to manage and protect. Accordingly, the enterprise has developed a practical fire prevention and control plan, developed a specific “scenario” for self-extinguishing small-scale forest fires and coordinated to handle large-scale, complex fires.

In particular, the company focuses on mobilizing maximum human resources, means, equipment, funding, and strengthening coordination with localities, border guards, military, police, and forest rangers to ensure safety for the most fire-prone forest areas in sub-regions 243 (Huong Vinh commune), 248, 249, 256, 264 (Huong Lam commune), 241B (Huong Xuan commune)...

Along with forest owners and other forces, border guards stationed in the area are also ready to take action, combining the task of protecting the border with preserving the green color of the forests.

Major Nguyen Quoc Hung - Deputy Political Commissar of Ban Giang Border Post informed: "The border communes managed by the unit have many forest areas with potential fire risks and people have the habit of treating the ground cover with fire on hot days. Therefore, the unit has started to be ready for action, if a fire occurs, the entire force will be mobilized to participate with the highest determination and responsibility. The unit has established a shock force with 7 officers, soldiers and equipment to work with specialized forest protection forces, people to patrol, guard and extinguish fires".

Huong Khe is one of the hottest districts in the country and has the largest forest area in the province, so ensuring safety for nearly 100,165 hectares of forest and forestry land has been implemented systematically, synchronously and proactively. Up to this point, the People's Committee of Huong Khe district has directed communes and towns to complete the assessment of forest protection and fire prevention work in 2024 and develop plans, prepare funds, human resources and means to carry out tasks in the new hot season.

The District People's Committee also developed and issued plans, tasks, and solutions for forest protection and fire prevention in 2025; focusing on directing, guiding, and assigning specific tasks to forest owners, localities, departments, functional forces, agencies, units, and people to join in preventing "fires" most effectively...

As a “frontline” force, Huong Khe Forest Protection Department is taking action with a high sense of responsibility, determination, timeliness, and comprehensiveness. Mr. Nguyen Manh Tai - Deputy Head of Huong Khe Forest Protection Department said: “With the assigned responsibilities and tasks, we have advised the District People's Committee in developing and promulgating a highly feasible forest protection and fire prevention plan, consolidating the shock force, establishing an inspection team, ensuring “4 on-site” readiness, and handling outstanding issues well...

We have also prepared human resources, equipment and coordinated with other functional forces to deploy guarding, patrolling, controlling, and forest fire prevention at the base, especially in forests near residential areas and areas with high potential fire risks. In addition, the district has also increased propaganda and signed commitments in schools and villages near forests to raise awareness of fire prevention and control in the community.
