The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs encourages businesses to let employees take leave according to the above schedule.

For businesses not included in the above subjects, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs requires employers to decide to choose 1 of 3 Tet holiday options:

One is 1 day off at the end of the year of Giap Thin and the first 4 days of the year of At Ty.

Second is the last 2 days off of the year of Giap Thin and the first 3 days of the year of At Ty.

Third is the last 3 days off of the year of the Dragon and the first 2 days of the year of the Snake.

At the same time, employers must notify employees of the Lunar New Year holiday plan 30 days in advance.

2025 has 22 holidays and Tet

In 2025, workers will have 22 days off, including 11 paid holidays and Tet, and 11 days off adjacent to holidays and Tet.

11 holidays according to the Labor Code include: New Year's Day 1 day (January 1); Lunar New Year 5 days; Victory Day 1 day (April 30); International Labor Day 1 day (May 1); National Day 2 days (September 2 and 1 day before or after); Hung King's Commemoration Day 1 day (March 10 of the Lunar calendar).

11 consecutive days off during holidays and Tet include: 4 weekend days off during Lunar New Year; 2 weekend days off during Hung Kings' Commemoration Day; 3 days off during April 30 and May 1; 2 weekend days off during National Day.

* According to the lunar calendar, December this year has only 29 days, without the 30th of Tet.

Notably, it will not be until 2033 that we will have a real 30th of December. That means for 8 consecutive years from 2025 to 2032, we will not have a real 30th of Tet.

* What lunar day is the beginning of spring 2025?

Lich Xuan is the beginning of a new year, the first solar term of the year. Normally, Lich Xuan will start in January, around February 4 or 5 of the solar calendar and end around February 18 or 19.

This year's Spring Festival falls on February 4, 2025 (January 7).

Why is there no Lunar New Year's Eve for 8 consecutive years? From 2025 to 2032, for 8 consecutive years there will only be December 29. So why is there no Lunar New Year's Eve in these years?
