The Prime Minister agreed to take Lunar New Year holiday from February 8, 2024 to February 14, 2024.
Lunar New Year holiday from February 8-14, 2024; National Day holiday from August 31 to September 3, 2023
According to Official Dispatch No. 8662/VPCP-KGVX dated November 3, 2023, considering the proposal of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs in Official Dispatch No. 4594/LDTBXH-ATLĐ dated October 27, 2023 on the proposal to take Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has the following comments:
Agree with the proposal of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs in the above document on Lunar New Year holiday from February 8, 2024 to February 14, 2024 and National Day holiday from August 31, 2024 to September 3, 2024.
The Prime Minister assigned the Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to notify administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, socio-political organizations, enterprises and employees about the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2024.
Previously, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs proposed two options for this longest holiday of the year.
Option 1
Accordingly, civil servants and public employees will be off from Thursday, February 8, 2024 to Wednesday, February 14, 2024 (ie December 29, Quy Mao year to January 5, Giap Thin year).
With this plan, on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2024, civil servants and public employees will have 7 days off (including 5 days off for Lunar New Year and 2 days off in lieu of weekly days off as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code).
Option 2
The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs proposed to take 1 day off before Tet and 4 days off after Tet. Accordingly, civil servants and public employees will take a day off from Friday, February 9, 2024 to Thursday, February 15, 2024 (ie December 30, Quy Mao year to January 6, Giap Thin year).
With this plan, on the occasion of Lunar New Year, civil servants and public employees will also have 7 days off (including 5 days off for Lunar New Year and 2 days off in lieu of weekly days off, according to regulations in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code).
According to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, both proposed options have the same number of days off, but the ministry recommends choosing option 1 because it ensures harmony between the time off before and after Tet.
